ABC announces Jimmy Kimmel’s replacement starting tonight
Things will look a little different for late-night television fans tuning into Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night. ABC revealed the new host taking over for Jimmy Kimmel starting tonight, and the entertainer comes to the show with some valuable experience.
Rapper and singer Jelly Roll will fill in for Kimmel Monday through Thursday as the ABC late-night show nears the end of its annual summer guest-hosting run. Kimmel’s summer vacation should wrap up soon, with the usual ABC host expected to be back behind the desk after the Labor Day holiday.
Jelly Roll will have plenty to work with during his run as host of Jimmy Kimmel LIve! this week. The network and show made sure to line up some quality guests to help the rapper ease into the week of shows.
On Monday, Aug. 24, he will welcome actor Glen Powell and podcast host Jay Shetty, with Sara Niemietz sitting in with the Cletones. Powell’s appearance comes as he promotes season 2 ofChad Powers, while Shetty is appearing in connection with his On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast.
Tuesday’s show features an especially notable lineup, with Henry Winkler, Leanne Morgan and music legend Stevie Nicks joining Jelly Roll. Niemietz will again sit in with the house band. Winkler will discuss his History Channel series Hazardous History, while Morgan will talk up the new season of her show Leanne.
Wednesday brings The Rookie and Lanterns star Nathan Fillion, along with rappers Juicy J and Project Pat. Lecrae will also join Juicy J and Project Pat for the musical portion of the show, while Niemietz returns with the Cletones.
The week continues Thursday with Leslie Mann and comedian Bert Kreischer, with Niemietz again sitting in with the band. Mann currently stars in the comedy Spa Weekend, and Kreischer continues to tour the country.
This isn’t Jelly Roll’s first time stepping into the late-night host chair. The singer previously hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! during Kimmel’s summer hiatus in 2025. He brought a level of excitement to the show, thanks in part to his efforts promoting his WWE appearance at the time. Things probably won’t get as violent this time around, but Jelly Roll could still have a surprise or two in store for fans.
The return to Kimmel comes during a particularly busy stretch for Jelly Roll. His most recent studio album remains 2024’s Beautifully Broken. In June, Jelly Roll released “Hands Up,” a single from his next album.
