The Evil Killer Twin Sisters Who Murdered Their Mom | Anna Uncovered

PART1

Hi there glad you could make it back to my channel when it comes to twins most people imagine their special connection as a blessing but sometimes when twins share more than dna it can prove to be a real curse the story of tasmaya and jezmaya whitehead and their relationship with their mom nikki is the stuff of nightmares if you’re ready for it let’s dive in [Music] today’s story begins in georgia state in prison on april 15th 1975 jar mecca or nicki whitehead was born in prison her mom was serving time for possession and

robbery nikki was immediately handed to her grandmother della but this wasn’t the end of nicki’s troublesome childhood you didn’t have what you call a curfew nikki was able to come and go as you know she pretty much pleased nikki was more often at parties than at school and before long she started hanging out with the wrong crowd doing the same things that her mom was in prison for on top of it all when she was 17 nikki got pregnant with twins although she didn’t want to get an abortion she wasn’t going to be there for her daughters so after

she gave birth in 1993 nikki left jazz and taz in della’s care and left perhaps nikki was too afraid of what would happen to the girls if they were in her care she definitely didn’t want them to go in the same direction that the path that she went according to her friends nikki became quite the conflict avoider she was soft-spoken even shy at times and refused to stir the waters with her close ones but according to della nicki was a sporadic presence at most at home she would only visit her daughters at odd times and at

holidays like christmas as you’d probably expect the twins were exceptionally close to each other they would do everything together be it school or playtime and they would even finish each other’s sentences like some pairs of twins jazz and taz seemed telepathically connected but as telepathy goes they just didn’t share happy memories and pleasant feelings jazz and taz suffered from severe abandonment issues their father a jamaican national was never present not even when nikki gave birth furthermore not even nikki was present della was

often upset with this but nikki’s motivation was clear she wanted to be a perfect mom and give her daughters the best possible life she simply wasn’t ready to raise them yet make of that what you will jazz and taz weren’t brought down by their fairly unstable family in fact they were extremely motivated to perform well in school and do great in life from a very young age they began to play instruments they were girl scouts and they got straight a’s all their teachers had big hopes for them and their hopes were well founded in their teens the

girls were preparing to apply to harvard university nikki had high expectations of her daughters too always pushing them to achieve even higher goals but this didn’t always sit with the girls abandonment issues they started to resent their mother why was she asking so much of them if she couldn’t even do the only thing they were asking of her be around in 2000 things seemed to change for the better nikki was in studying for fashion design training to become a beautician that same year she met robert head a 55 year old truck

driver he was three decades her senior but they clicked and it seemed like it was meant to be that year jazz nikki and taz moved to conyers georgia to live with robert finally the girls could spend a lot of precious time with their mom and nicki seemed to love every second of it she did their hair their makeup and you know it was just for nicki when it came to her kids it was always a celebration however nikki was still not present at all times in her daughter’s lives she still relied on zella who now traveled between towns to take care of

the girls but nikki was set on being their sole mother in 2007 when the twins were 13 nikki applied for full custody over jazz and taz della was furious but the court was happy to give nikki what she wanted nikki was young she had a stable partner a steady income and a house della lived out of town and her age was starting to show she didn’t have the same energy she once had this was a bright new chapter for nikki but for jazz and taz it proved to be a nightmare nicki was pretty hard on discipline and the girls hated her hypocrisy first she

wasn’t there now she suddenly wanted them to do what they were told they simply did not understand their mother’s point of view it was difficult for them to start hearing and accepting you know the word no as nikki became more stern that’s just something that they couldn’t they couldn’t get used to nikki was afraid that the girls would choose the dangerous path that she once chose tough crowds teenage pregnancies when the girls started giving off hints of such a lifestyle nikki was very strictly against it they had a curfew and nikki

would sometimes check their phone conversations and she let it be known that you know hey you cannot you know you’re 14 you can’t talk to 17 year old guys and you know you can’t be on the phone at a certain time and you can’t stay out or whatnot that’s when i think it became a battle when nikki confiscated jazz’s phone for breaking these rules the girls were at an all-out war with their mother there’s more the girls were in their early teenage years they were going through a lot of changes from emotional to hormonal to lifestyle changes they

had gone from their happiest place della’s house where everything was permitted and she dedicated all her time to them to a foreign place a new town with a new step dad robert many children initially reject new step parents but for jazz and taz this was a true house of discontent unfortunately what started as shouting and calling names ended as regular physical altercations the girls and their mother would fistfight all while shouting that they hated each other one night nikki had discovered that jazz snuck out in the middle of the

night to meet her boyfriend nikki called 9-1-1 where’s your emergency i just woke up and my daughter’s going at the house how old is your daughter oh no at 13. this was only the beginning of years of mandatory counseling and juvenile court visits i talked with the girls at great length trying to figure out what was going on i actually went in the bedroom with the girls they had a closet full of beautiful name brand clothes beautiful shoes their hair was immaculate i mean these girls really had a good home jazz

and taz insisted to officer myra scruggs that they had to go back and live with their great grandmother della but scruggs explained that that couldn’t happen anymore after the first meeting myra had a bad feeling the girls seemed very innocent very sweet these are but the look in nikki’s face she was fearful of those children she knew that they worked together after speaking to the girls and nikki myra left the house and went to her police car but she didn’t drive far away she was sure the girls were plotting something only three

minutes later she heard screams coming from the house myra rushed to the house and found nikki running away and holding her phone she said the girls were on top of her beating her but jaz and taz told myra a different story twin said that once they went back in the house after we left that their mother became abusive with them told them that they were not going anywhere and started to beat them but the physical evidence was overwhelming nikki was the victim she had scratches on her neck scratches on her chest and she was hysterical

PART2

the girls on the other hand had no marks on them no indication that really they had been in any kind of an altercation um talking with them i didn’t believe a thing that the girls had said taz and jazz were then arrested and taken to juvenile court this was the first time of many for years the twins would beat their mom she would call 9-1-1 and they would get arrested no amount of arrests and reprimands would make them stop they simply hated nikki it was a living hell for her um only because the kids did not want to be back

with her the twins also had to go to mandatory counseling but they were extremely resistant to their therapist no change seemed to take place not even in years the more nikki tried to push the girls to act right the more they rebelled they accused nicki of hypocrisy every time she would give them a lesson they felt nikki was basically preaching do as i say not as i do she’d done she would skip school and spend her nights out she even got pregnant in high school why couldn’t they if they wanted to apart from abusing their mother jazz

and taz were acting out in many other ways when she was about 15 years old taz started self-harming when nikki began keeping a closer eye on her she realized she was also skipping school for days on end once she skipped school for a whole week and stayed with her 19 year old boyfriend the whole time the minute nicki found out she drove to the boy’s house and dragged tazz out she also confiscated her phone on the way back home nikki was just in the process of telling her daughter off for her behavior when taz opened the door and

jumped out of the moving car taz was in such distress just listening to her mother she preferred to risk her life and escape the situation if putting yourself in mortal danger feels safer than an unpleasant chat with your mom the situation is pretty bad in 2008 nikki called 9-1-1 again she was barricaded in her room after jazz and taz tried to attack her once again the family was taken to juvenile court the judge described the two girls as uncontrollable he also told the girls that they are free to live with their

great grandmother if they wanted to this was a great victory for jazz and taz but it also meant that their violent behavior had gotten them what they wanted in a twisted way the judge reinforced their psychotic tendencies so in 2008 jazz and taz happily returned to dallas but della wasn’t as happy she was 79 years old and the girls were running as wild as ever they would disappear for days and they would steal objects from della’s house della started bolting her bedroom door whenever she wasn’t around in 2010 it was della that called the

police on the girls as always they ended up in juvenile court della told the judge she was truly struggling to control these angry 16 year olds and that she was 24 7 worried about losing her possessions enter nikki two years had passed and she wanted her kids back you might wonder why after all they’d put their mother through well nikki was brave and she had this undying ambition of raising her daughter’s right sending them on the right path tragically it would have been better if she had abandoned this hope because the girls

now knew that if they were aggressive enough the court would send them back to della as soon as they heard the judge’s order they threw a terrible fit they screamed and protested like animals on january 5th 2010 jazz and taz moved back in with nikki and robert against their will but nikki was set on letting the girls know that they are loved nikki even threw them a welcome home party that day multiple relatives came to the party but that meant nothing to the girls they screamed and threw insults at their mom until everyone left within the

following week nikki called 9-1-1 three times the situation wasn’t getting better at all if anything it was worse than ever on january 13th police officers were just doing a routine check through nikki’s neighborhood when they drove by her house just then jazz came out of the house in a hysterical state she flagged the officers down and urged them to come indoors apparently the girls had come home from school and found their mother dead in the bathtub young lady stopped me saying someone had killed her mother

inside the house the officers found a horrific scene there was blood in several rooms a lot of it when i walked in the front door it was the first time i’d ever been on something as horrific as that nikki had been 80 times with a kitchen knife her spinal cord was nearly severed she’d been hit on the head bitten and scratched the police knew all too well of nicki’s history with her daughters but they were just too petite 16 year olds they simply couldn’t fathom the reality of it these are beautiful young girls very

tiny little things they look harmless the police looked at all possible suspects first they searched for the girl’s father the jamaican boyfriend nikki had in high school when she got pregnant by now he was married and living in canada he hadn’t been to the united states in a while so that was a strong enough alibi then the police turned to nikki’s well two boyfriends she lived with robert and she also had a boyfriend named joe the twins had indicated that robert had overheard her speaking to the other boyfriend on the phone

and indicated that robert had confronted nikki about the infidelity of course the police had spoken to the girls first thing after the murder but they were in visible distress and described the scene perfectly jazz like screaming or say something i looked that way and all i saw was like blood all over the floor we were treating them as victims witnesses that came home found their mother you know dead remember these girls admitted this is all an act their act did not stop when the police officers left the room [Music]

meanwhile detectives found something odd on the drive to headquarters one of the twins uh we observed in the back of the hamlets we saw her bite her arm we stopped her and asked her hey what are you doing and she explained that she does that when she gets upset their strange behavior did not end there although not the first suspects the detectives kept a close eye on them in the police station live or through surveillance cameras these two girls were you know hugging each other in each other’s arms and when i said you know what can i do

to make this easier for you they turned and looked at me and they said can we watch csi and immediately the hairs on the back of my neck stood straight up essentially it was right then and it was like okay this is something was very very off continuing the investigation the officers asked jaz and taz to describe their mother although they’d been crying until then they began insulting nikki they only had bad words for her then the officers noticed the girls were both wearing gloves that they hadn’t taken off for

the whole duration of the interview let me see your hands and your arms what happened here and of course there was all the evidence inside the whitehead residence the sinks were completely clean and wiped we found shoes in there um in their back of their closet that had blood on it taz’s bedroom had the worst clue of all a pair of brown boots full of blood on them hidden inside a shoebox this was not the end of the mounting evidence against the twins the more evidence the police gathered the more sure they were in keeping the girls at

the station but they were getting the gist of the situation too at one point taz looked straight at the surveillance camera then she pulls another stunt never gonna be happy now because somebody was helped who would honestly believe these words from a person who had her mom’s hair inside her bloody shoes perhaps the girls were young and naive or perhaps they were cocky and confident that no one would suspect them in a gruesome murder after all girls and young women are the least common category of killers but knowing they were lying the

detectives tracked their every step on the day of the murder soon enough the girls started mixing in their facts what time did the girls thought they’d dodged the bus cameras but police had cctv footage in the neighborhood anyway they saw the girls not walking but hitching a ride we began catching them in lies concerning their time frames or their details they began to be very angry and would become argumentative and very uncooperative the girls had said they arrived at school only 10 minutes late something like 8 40

a.m but surveillance cameras in their high school showed them arriving at 10 42 a.m until then they had each other’s back acting like grieving sisters together and corroborating their fake stories if they were in different rooms they couldn’t do that anymore and it would be easier to incriminate them it wasn’t long until jazz started to crack she was stressed tired and worried about being separated from her sister [Music] i don’t think i’ll be a lesson it seemed like it oh who said that don’t just seem like how y’all was questioning nothing from

that day a lot of evidence was gathered but it was all circumstantial meaning that police had to send it all to a lab and get dna profiles before they could jump to conclusions for the moment the police released the girls and sent them to della’s place jazz and taz were free to live their lives as normal they went to school they even went to prom and they attended nicki’s funeral acting as devastated as they did inside the police station at the funeral nikki’s brother confronted the twins saying what have you done to my sister he was pretty loud

about it and many people gasped in disbelief how could a bunch of delicate girls their mom 80 times in the end nikki’s brother was escorted out of the church months passed but the police didn’t give up on the case in fact they were working hard in the background collecting dna samples from the murder scene and trying to figure out the timeline of the attack the forensics team made it clear that nikki fought long and hard to defend herself her teeth indicated that she had bitten the perpetrator in self-defense

through nikki’s credit she did not go down without a fight and she left evidence on one of her girls as as a marker luckily the detectives remembered how taz was biting her arm in the interrogation room she said it was because of stress but now they figured it was so that she could hide the bite mark her mom had left on her arm we had a dental examination of nikki’s teeth and they matched it to the bite on the twin the police had also taken pictures of the injuries on the twins hands and arms following the murder back then the

story was they’d gotten into a fight with their mom prior to the incident but well it was becoming pretty obvious this wasn’t true they found human hair between nicki’s teeth as that twin was behind nicki and had her from around the front nikki’s fighting for her life and bit her arm and that’s how the hair became embedded in her teeth the more police recovered from the house the more they painted a picture of a very troubled household the girls were constantly fighting with nikki and nikki was at her wit’s end the police also

found a note taz had written to her boyfriend at the time just days before the murder i love you robert i am just sad unhappy depressed unmotivated helpless that’s why i don’t talk very much but it’s not you i just hate living here with the dna the evidence and the bite marks the police could finally arrest the twins and charge them with first degree murder of their mother four months after they’d already done it taz was arrested at home and jazz at school it was the last day of school just before summer break decided we were

going to arrest them on the last day of school for fear of they were going to take flight out of the country to avoid the charges inside the police car the girls started showing their true colors they were angry going down for something i did not do please find a mural with me and then get real personal they having coffee and donuts and having a good jolly old time back in the interrogation room the twins lies were more evident than ever you know i i don’t believe anything they say everything they said whether it had some

truth or fiction in it had their self-interest at heart finally once they were in prison clothes separated and urged to come forward jazz and taz confessed apparently it all began when the girls woke up late for school immediately they all began to fight she just started waving the plot around the things like that or whatever so i guess she trying to hit us with the body you know she just threatening us and everything meanwhile everyone was throwing curses at each other your mom’s yelling we all everybody’s jailed we all

mad then taz took the pot away from nikki i had to depart from her this is when she had grabbed my kind of turned where he said get back but she didn’t keep them like in her head my mom was just winning that that battle with the knife or whatever so i picked up the pot blood came out of nicki’s head but then she started fighting back and biting the girls she beat me into my chest i could tell i’m not that big so she’s when she bit me she latched on to me and i’m trying to get her off from me because it hurts i’m trying to punch her

i guess jazz then tried to kill their mom with a ribbon of medallions she’d won but her mom hit back and she fell i was stunned i think i picked up a knife and i stabbed him they wouldn’t cut his life they were deep because i i couldn’t bring myself to do that but they did it in fact these were some of the most vicious cuts the police detectives had ever seen after stopping their mom 80 times the girls dragged her all the way to the bathroom the reason was unclear i was at the top and jazz had her feet she was heavy

what did y’all do mickey was still alive when she was in the tub slowly bleeding to death in fact she kept talking to the girls until her last breath what’s she saying she she hates she hate us the same thing going to jail for the jail what are you saying to her i’m sorry [Music] silently watched as their mother succumbed to her injuries you went under a couple times and that was it when that was it use your words when that was it would you and your sister do oh i guess we were shocked i mean we didn’t really believe

i guess what we done what we did we cried i cried for a long time then they calmed down and began to clean the house well attempted to clean the house after all blood was soaked into all the carpets the girls just cleaned the bathroom and a few of their clothes then they planned their story they would hitch a ride to school and tell the police they were there the whole day reliving the day of the murder both girls broke down and appeared regretful this time it was genuine crying i really wish i’d wished to have it like

that i was just that itself saw something else to do i wish sorry it was just confusion this like turmoil is just just really get nervous though both girls said they wished they’d called the police during the fight and stopped it before it escalated sorry but it was not what linda and i was gonna try to make [Music] both girls pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and were sentenced to 30 years in prison with jazz and taz behind bars their family and detectives alike are still trying to figure out the root cause of this horrible act it was an act

of rage it was the two girls had planned for this event indeed the police had found a journal the girls kept together at home in it jazz and taz wrote to each other about how much they hated nikki and how they needed her gone soon it appeared as if the close bond between the two twins was only strengthened by their hatred toward their mother perhaps it started as a way to comfort each other when they were young and suffered from abandonment issues but over the years it escalated into a disturbing plot to destroy their

mother it was the strongest thing jazz and taz had in common a few years after being incarcerated jazz graduated high school in prison and even served as class valedictorian i worked really really really hard i stayed up all night some days to finish some of the things they gave me della was at the graduation too encouraging her great-granddaughter to be more than a killer perhaps that’s the right attitude the girls will be about 47 when they get out of prison with the right support treatment and education there’s definitely a glimmer

of hope that jazz and taz will do their best to be better people thanks for watching don’t be shy give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to our channel for more until next time [Music] you
