WHEEL BIG DEAL Mark Consuelos rolls into Live! with Kelly on a scooter after undergoing surgery and gives audience a health update
MARK Consuelos has returned to Live! using a scooter after undergoing toe surgery, just weeks after his wife Kelly Ripa’s major procedure.
The talk show host underwent the procedure on Friday after putting it off for a year.
He didn’t miss a beat when he returned to the show on Monday, wheeling himself around on a scooter.
“I made it!” Mark, 55, said, rolling onto the stage on a small scooter decorated with orange tassels and a colorful nameplate.
“Deja I thought for sure I was going to call you [to fill in],” Kelly, 55, joked to the show’s longtime announcer.
“There was a 90 percent chance I wasn’t going to be here,” the Riverdale star admitted.
“Especially after the night you had last night!” Kelly added, before mentioning that they were up all night with their sick dog.
“I had foot surgery. Dr. O’Malley at HSS is AMAZING!” Mark said of the operation.
“He’s very handsome too!” his wife and co-host added.
The soap opera alum confessed it had been over a decade since he last had surgery and the experience was “awful.”
However, he had a sense of humor about his unique recovery this time, joking about using the scooter to get around.
“I got a special little horn for it, you wanna hear it?” the TV star laughed.
Mark then revealed that he’d only stopped taking pain medication 48 hours before the live broadcast.
He further shared that he’d gotten a bone spur removed, requiring him to be put under anesthesia.
Kelly poked fun at her husband’s condition post-surgery and said she couldn’t help but laugh while watching him coming off anesthesia.
“Finally, you looked at me and said, ‘Who are you?’” she laughed to Mark.
“I said, ‘I’m your wife.’ And you said, ‘No!’
“I was dying; everybody in the room, there was a lot of laughter happening,” she recalled.
She also said a particularly funny moment was watching Mark try to eat Cheez-Its and keep missing his mouth.
The live audience also got a kick out of the story and laughed along with the pair.
Mark’s toe procedure comes after Kelly underwent a painful surgery on her gums at the end of July.
Kelly missed a week of the program to recover, which extended into their routine summer hiatus, before they both returned with live episodes earlier this month.
