What happened on the night of December 12, 2021, was one of the saddest and most disturbing chapters of this story. It was an incident involving a completely defenseless little girl, and it revealed just how far human cruelty can go. Kamari Linnell Holland was born on November 23, 2016, in Columbus, Georgia. Her parents were Corey Holland and Kristy Sipple, who had been together for about a year when Kristy became pregnant. After Kamari was born, the two began living together, and in 2018, they had another child. However, as time went on, their relationship began to deteriorate. Kristy had a history of drug-related problems, which led to frequent arguments between the couple.
Despite the difficulties her family was facing, little Kamari had a cheerful and loving personality. She was always happy and smiling. She was also an intelligent, affectionate, and energetic child. One of her favorite things to do was sing and dance, and she had recently started preschool, a stage of her life that she absolutely loved.
After her parents separated, Kamari began living with her father, Corey, and her younger brother in Phenix City, Alabama, as he had full custody of both children. This was because Kristy Sipple, who was 35 years old, had lost custody of her children after being accused of chemically endangering her own son while she was pregnant. Because of this, Kristy was not even supposed to be alone with the children. However, on December 12, 2021, Kristy showed up unexpectedly at Corey’s house to see the children. Although he had his doubts, he decided to let her in and allowed her to spend some time with them. Despite everything that had happened, the children still loved their mother deeply.
During the visit, Kamari excitedly approached her father and told him that for the first time, she was going to spend the night with her mother. The news completely caught Corey off guard. He knew there was a court order prohibiting Kristy from seeing the children, much less taking them overnight. However, seeing how excited his little girl was, he decided to allow it. At the time, Kristy appeared to be in a good mood and showed no obvious signs of being under the influence of drugs, but there was something that caught Corey’s attention: Kristy seemed interested only in taking Kamari with her and did not mention her other child. That struck him as strange. Corey made it clear that if she was going to take Kamari, she would also have to take her brother. Kristy hesitated for a few moments, but eventually agreed and left with both children to spend the night with them. That was how Kristy left with both of her children and took them to her home on Bowman Street.
The following morning, December 13, 2021, at around 6:00 a.m., Kristy called the police and reported that she had woken up and discovered that her 5-year-old daughter, Kamari, was missing. The little girl was no longer inside the house and there was no sign of where she had gone. When officers arrived at Kristy’s home, they found no signs of a forced entry or any obvious evidence pointing to a possible suspect.
Given the circumstances, authorities immediately launched a search for the missing girl. As police began searching the area, Corey also started looking for his daughter. Hoping to find her as quickly as possible, he launched a social media campaign sharing her photograph and asking the community for help. Days went by without any sign of Kamari.
Authorities then began conducting a more extensive investigation. They searched for information connected to Kamari’s unusual name and discovered that three days earlier a sexual assault had been reported. A young woman had accused an acquaintance of assaulting her inside her home in Columbus. During the attack, the man had called her Kamari even though that was not her name. The man she identified was Jeremy Williams. Police traced Williams’s cell phone to the Bamboo Motel on Opelika Road in Phenix City. There they found him under the influence of drugs and took him into custody for questioning.
While searching his current residence for clues about the girl’s whereabouts, investigators spoke with his wife outside the home. She claimed she knew nothing about Kamari and told them that Williams spent most of his time at an abandoned property he had rented years earlier. Officers went to that address, located in the 1600 block of 15th Avenue. In the basement, they discovered the body of 5-year-old Kamari Holland. Investigators determined that she had been sexually assaulted and that she had died from asphyxiation. DNA belonging to Jeremy Williams was found on her body along with traces of methamphetamine, indicating that the child had been drugged.
Following the discovery, 37-year-old Jeremy Williams was arrested and held without bond as the investigation continued. Just two days after her daughter’s body was discovered, Kristy decided to take the Christmas presents that had been intended for Kamari and donate them to a local toy drive. At the time, some people were questioning whether she might have been involved in the case. While handing over the toys, she spoke to a reporter on camera:

She, um… we… we were at the gas station one time and we seen a family out there and then one of the little girls didn’t have shoes on and she said, ‘Mommy, we can help them, Mommy, because I have so many pairs of shoes at home, Mommy. Let’s… let’s… let’s give them my shoes, Mommy.’ Of course, we gave them her shoes because she’s that caring. She had a heart. She had a spirit that she’s been here before and she was a blessing. She is a blessing.”
A little over a week after Kamari’s body was discovered, on December 25, 2021, Jeremy asked to speak with a detective. He said that he had been praying the night before, that he deeply regretted what he had done, and that there were several things he wanted to confess. During the interview, he made several shocking admissions. He confessed to sexually abusing his 4-year-old stepdaughter over an extended period of time and admitted responsibility for the death of his 1-month-old daughter, Nadia Trenice Williams, in 2005.
Jeremy also admitted to sexually abusing other girls over the years. He then confessed to what he had done to Kamari, but during his statement, he made an especially disturbing claim. He said that, according to him, everything had happened with Kristy Sipple’s consent. According to his own statement, Kristy and Jeremy were romantically involved and both were deeply addicted to methamphetamine. For several weeks, Kristy had allegedly been offering her daughter to Jeremy in exchange for money. Eventually, on the night of December 12, Jeremy negotiated with her for sexual access to the child. Kristy agreed in exchange for $1,300. That same night, Kristy left the door to her house unlocked so Jeremy could enter and take Kamari.
When Jeremy arrived, Kristy got out of bed and asked him for the money before he left. However, Jeremy told her he would pay her when he returned with the girl, and then he left with Kamari. Jeremy drove to an abandoned property. Once there, he parked the vehicle out of sight so that his aunt, who lived nearby, would not see him. Inside the car, he used methamphetamine and forced Kamari to consume it as well. He then took the little girl inside the abandoned house where he sexually assaulted her and repeatedly beat her for approximately an hour. But there was something even more disturbing: Jeremy recorded what he was doing on his cell phone. Eventually, he strangled Kamari with his bare hands, killing her. Even after she was dead, he continued sexually abusing her body and recorded those acts on his phone as well.
Later, when Jeremy failed to return, Kristy began repeatedly calling him to ask when they would be back. He lied to her, claiming that he was stuck in traffic and would be late. Those calls were documented in the phone company’s records. Investigators also found Kristy’s phone number on the phone seized from Jeremy, corroborating what she had told them. Two weeks after Kamari’s body was discovered, police arrested Kristy Sipple. She was charged with sodomy, rape, and murder. The murder charges were later dropped in exchange for her pleading guilty to human trafficking. She was ultimately sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In April 2024, Jeremy Williams pleaded guilty to all four capital murder charges. However, under Alabama law, a jury was still required to hear the evidence. During the trial, jurors examined extensive evidence, heard testimony from witnesses and victims of Williams, and viewed portions of the videos he had recorded himself. Several jurors broke down in tears. After deliberating for just over an hour, they found him guilty on all four counts of capital murder. During the same legal proceedings, the girl’s father, Corey Holland, was indicted by a Russell County grand jury on one count of reckless endangerment.
