Sandra Bullock loves to play matchmaker, apparently.

The Practical Magic 2 actress and her costar Nicole Kidman sat down with Hoda Kotb for an interview on her Making Space series for Today and it turned from a press engagement into a deep friendship connection.

After discussing grief and love, Bullock, 62, noted that she recently saw a segment on Kotb, also 62, and noticed she maybe met someone special.

“I was watching a morning program, oddly one that you’re on, and a question was posed to you about a flight that you took. You were in 3C and there was a 3D and then there was a little conversation and then a little sparklet? Like, what happened?” she asked Kotb.

“It was… okay,” the former Today anchor began, filling in Kidman along the way. “So, I was on a plane and I sat next to some guy and he just said to me, ‘Oh god, I’m just having a hard time.’ And I was thinking, ‘Who is this guy? I don’t know.’ And he’s some AI guy who’s super, whatever.”

“Handsome? Super handsome?” Bullock questioned, to which Kotb nodded. “I was watching the segment,” Bullock smirked.

Kotb told the women that he said, “‘I can’t sleep, I saw this image and it really stuck with me.’ And he showed me a little boy who was overseas in Africa who was poor and he said, ‘I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t sleep. So I started sending money and things there.’ And he said, ‘What the hell am I doing? We have one ride around the sun. What am I doing with my life?’ And he decided he was going to switch gears and work in this charity part of life.”

Kotb said his take on life truly moved her and she began crying. She went on to say she enjoyed their “dream”-like chat but they both got off the plane, and eventually went their separate ways. They did, however, exchange numbers.

“I didn’t know if it was a connection, like, just a bond for a second or was it something [more]? I don’t know,” Kotb explained.

She then told Kidman and Bullock that, at another instance, she was somewhere giving a speech and the guy was randomly there.

“He walked up to me and I saw him and he saw me and we were both [crying],” Kotb said. “And somebody walked up and goes, ‘What is going on? What is this?’ And I go, ‘I don’t… it’s nothing.’ Like, ‘I don’t know what it is.’”

Kotb said the man lives between New York and Miami, to which Kidman said, “There’s hope!”

Bullock then asked which camera was hers and pantomimed a “call her” signal to the mystery guy, calling Kotb “hot.”

“We’re putting a little of our witchy magic [out there] for you. This is great,” Kidman added.

“I do believe in love,” Kotb admitted.

“You’re walking [love]. You are it. It’s, like, you. It’s in you whether you want to believe it or not,” Bullock told a laughing yet teary-eyed Kotb.

“This is my favorite interview ever,” she quipped, noting the “intense” nature of the conversation. Bullock then told the man, looking in the camera, “You will enjoy [Kotb’s very soft skin].”

Kotb was previously in a relationship with longtime partner Joel Schiffman, but has been single since January 2022. She has two daughters, Haley, 9, and Hope, 7, whom she adopted, in part, due to Bullock’s inspiration.

“I have such extreme gratitude because, now, I’ve got a kid going to fourth grade and a kid going to second grade,” Kotb told Bullock in the same interview, revealing that she showed her eldest daughter, Haley, a photo of Bullock, noting that Haley asked, “‘Is she the lady?’” Kidman called Bullock “the angel” that created Kotb’s family.
