Firefighters discover the badly burned body of a woman inside a bedroom. Her two sons somehow make it out of the burning house alive. The older boy immediately tells police that he woke up in the middle of the night,  saw a man wearing a mask inside the house, and claims the intruder threw a hammer at him before running away.

 At first, it looks like a stranger brutally attacked his mother and then set the house on fire to cover up the crime. But forensic investigators quickly realized the fire was nothing more than an attempt to destroy the evidence.    The woman didn’t die in the fire. She had been struck in the head over and over with a blunt object before the flames ever reached the room.

47-year-old Jacqueline Bartlam was known as a caring mother, a kind person, and a woman who by all accounts had no enemies. No one could explain who would have broken into her home and killed her with such incredible brutality. But the deeper the investigation  went, the more cracks began to appear in the story about the mysterious intruder.

The evidence started tearing apart every single detail of that account. And within just a few days, investigators realized this wasn’t a random break-in at all. It had all been planned in advance. Then, when police revealed the name of the person they believed had killed Jacqueline, the case sent shockwaves across the entire country.

 Because the main suspect  wasn’t a stranger. It was her own 14-year-old son. Hey guys, let me grab you for just a second.  Go ahead and share that in the comments, and now let’s keep going. On April 25th, 2011, a call comes in to the 9999 emergency service reporting a house fire on Georgia Drive in Nottingham, England. Two young boys, along with um the family’s dog, managed to escape the house just before the flames rapidly engulf the building.

 Emergency crews arrived within minutes and begin battling the fire. As the blaze tears through the home, shattering the quiet of the suburban neighborhood, word quickly starts spreading that a woman’s body has been found inside. One of the neighbors later said, “You see things like this on TV, but when you actually know the person, you just can’t believe it.

” At around 7:30 that morning, fire investigation dog handler David Cross received a call from dispatch. He was told to report to the local police station by 9:00 for a briefing before joining the fire investigation team at the scene. At around 11:00, the team arrived at the house. Police had already sealed off a large area around the neighborhood, but the case had attracted intense media attention.

 Journalist Rebecca Sherdley later said that, “At first, reporters only knew there had been a house fire on Georgia Drive.” As they spoke with neighbors who had gathered outside, they learned that two young boys had escaped the blaze, but the woman who had been inside did not survive. From the outside, the windows were heavily blackened by smoke.

Investigators quickly identified the point where the fire had started. It appeared to be centered around a body lying on the bedroom floor. Their job now was to figure out exactly what had happened. The older of the two boys who lived in the house, 14-year-old Daniel, told detectives a terrifying story. He said he woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

 As he stepped out of his bedroom, he suddenly came face to face with a man wearing a mask. According to Daniel, the man threw a hammer at him and then ran away.    Daniel said he rushed into his mother’s bedroom, which was already engulfed in flames, and found that she had been attacked.

 Panicked, he grabbed his younger brother and ran out of the burning house. As the fire spread through the family home, the boys ran to the neighbors to get help. Daniel then went back inside to save the family dog. He managed to rescue it, but by then he could no longer reach his mother. She was still trapped inside. While the house continued to burn, investigators recovered the badly charred body and sent it for a forensic examination.

 Because of the extensive fire damage, the victim had to be identified through her dental records. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Jacqueline Bartlam, a mother of two who most people knew simply as Jackie. Once her identity was confirmed, investigators needed to determine exactly how she had died. It didn’t take long for police to realize the fire wasn’t an accident.

 It had been deliberately set to cover up the fact that Jackie had died after being struck multiple times in the head with a blunt object. Jackie’s partner, Simon Mattis, first heard about the house fire on Georgia Drive in a news report. After learning about the incident, he texted Jackie’s sister, who confirmed that Jackie was missing and that her remains had been found after the fire.

Without knowing the full details of what had happened, he immediately headed back. As news of the tragedy spread, people began learning more about the woman who had become the victim of such a brutal attack. Jackie Bartlam was a devoted mother raising two boys. In 1996, she gave birth to her first son with her partner, Adrian.

 Three years later, the couple got married and not long after that, they welcomed a second son. They enjoyed a stable and comfortable life. The family lived in a nice detached home in a middle-class neighborhood, and both boys attended a local private school. But that happiness didn’t last. Jackie’s marriage to Adrian eventually ended in divorce.

 Afterward, Jackie moved with her sons to another part of Nottingham. In May 2008, Jackie met Simon Matas during a night out. He hadn’t planned on meeting anyone that evening, but he quickly fell in love with her. He was drawn to her kindness, her caring nature, and the genuine interest she showed in other people. Before long, they became a couple.

Everyone who knew Jackie described her as a kind-hearted woman with no enemies. No one could understand why anyone would want to kill her with such brutality. Just 2 days after the devastating fire, police announced they had arrested a suspect. But the full story remained hidden until a court lifted a reporting restriction, allowing the media to reveal the suspect’s identity and disclose the details of the crime.

 This wasn’t a crime of opportunity. It was a carefully planned and deliberately organized murder. It wasn’t a random intruder who broke into the house and brutally killed Jackie. The killer was a child. Her own 14-year-old son, Daniel Bartlam. Daniel was born on November 11th, 1996. And a few years later, his younger brother was born.

When Daniel was just 8 years old, he developed a fascination with fictional scenes of violence and brutality. The deeper he disappeared into his dark inner world, the more withdrawn and isolated he became. He spent most of his time alone in his room feeding his growing obsessions. He constantly watched his collection of horror movies, especially Saw and A Nightmare on Elm Street, and spent countless hours playing video games.

Just 1 year after Daniel became fascinated with violence, his life changed completely. His parents’  marriage fell apart, and they eventually divorced. Daniel and his younger brother remained living with Jackie. She did everything she could to shield her sons from the impact of the separation, and continued paying for Daniel’s private school for about another 6 months until it became financially impossible.

Like so many families after a divorce, the financial consequences were severe. Eventually, Jackie could no longer afford the tuition and Daniel had to leave his private school and transfer to a local public school. Forensic psychologist Professor Kevin Brown said that the transition from private school to public school may have exposed Daniel to bullying, feelings of isolation from his classmates, and the loss of the social status he had once enjoyed.

Around the same time Daniel changed schools, Simon and Jackie began talking about moving in together. They planned to sell their separate homes and buy one house they could all share. Although they found several properties they liked, Daniel refused to approve any of them. That was when his behavior began to change even more.

He became increasingly defiant and started acting out more often. Daniel refused to help around the house and ignored his responsibilities. Simon described him as a selfish, lonely, and frustrated boy who struggled to accept things that were beyond his control. Daniel withdrew even further from the people around him.

He also became increasingly angry about the attention he felt he was losing. His mother now had a new partner and changes were happening in his life that he couldn’t control. All of it only fueled his growing rage. He spent almost all of his time alone in his bedroom and no one really knew what he was doing in there.

Starting at around the age of 12, Daniel repaired laptops for people, so his family assumed that was what he was doing whenever he was upstairs by himself. He also uploaded several videos to YouTube.  Hi, this is Daniel.  One of the first people to become seriously concerned about Daniel’s increasingly disturbing behavior with Simon.

He believed Daniel was far too young to be watching such violent adult content. Whenever Jackie tried to discipline her son, he often responded with aggression, trying to take control of the situation. More than once, Simon had to step in to protect Jackie from her own son. He remembered one incident when Daniel started screaming at her.

 Daniel got so close to Jackie’s face that Simon had no choice but to physically stand between them. Daniel then stormed upstairs and for the next 2 minutes kicked the banister, pounded on the walls, shouted profanities, and screamed before slamming the door to his bedroom. The outburst left Jackie deeply shaken. In 2010, Jackie reported Daniel missing to the police.

 Desperate to find him, she contacted authorities who launched a large-scale search. At around 1:00 in the morning, officers found Daniel walking back toward the house where the family had lived before the divorce. He was taken back to his mother’s home. But Jackie found herself right back where she had started. She was still forced to deal with her son’s increasingly troubling behavior.

Eventually, she found a smaller, more affordable house in the Arnold area of Nottingham. As they prepared to move, Simon helped Daniel pack up his bedroom. While clearing it out, he discovered plastic toy boxes filled with urine and feces that appeared to have been sitting there for quite some time.

 He also found dirty towels Daniel had used and then hidden under the bed. Simon was horrified and became even more worried about him. Not long afterward, he made another disturbing discovery. Hidden inside Daniel’s laptop bag were several pieces of Jackie’s underwear that she had been unable to find for a long time. Forensic psychologist Professor Kevin Brown believes this wasn’t sexually motivated, but was more likely an attempt to get attention.

 Daniel’s unusual behavior was also becoming noticeable at school. After an aggressive outburst in May 2010, he was referred to the school psychologist.    From that point on, concerns about his mental state only grew stronger. During counseling sessions, Daniel claimed he was hearing voices. He said the voices were telling him to hurt other people.

 He also described violent visions in which he killed people. On top of that, Daniel insisted his school tie, which he had named Fred, had a life of its own and was trying to strangle him. He also spent hours writing stories. Simon later said that some of them were about children murdering one another. Daniel drew graphic pictures of people stabbing each other.

 All of this was happening about a year and a half before Jackie’s murder. He had gone from consuming violent content to creating it himself. As he entered his early teenage years, his obsession with violence only became stronger. Around that same time, he also became fascinated with television soap operas. His favorites were Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

 One Coronation Street character in particular became an obsession for Daniel. The character John Stape first appeared on the show in 2007. Um he quickly became one of the soaps main villains with major storylines involving kidnappings and murders before the character was written out of the series in 2011. In one of those storylines, John Stape brutally beats another character, Charlotte Hoyle, with a hammer and then leaves her body among the wreckage of a tram crash to hide his crime.

In other stories Daniel wrote, he portrayed himself as the greatest television soap star of all time, claiming he had starred in a soap opera for 50 years. It suggested he craved either fame or infamy. Daniel became so deeply immersed in his fictional world that the line between fantasy and reality began to blur in a dangerous and ultimately tragic way.

In March 2011, just 6 weeks before Jackie Bartlam was murdered, Daniel underwent a psychiatric assessment at Thorny Wood Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. The evaluation concluded that Daniel showed no signs of mental illness. Specialists also determined that he posed little to no risk to himself or to others.

By April 2011, the relationship between Jackie and Daniel had continued to deteriorate and had reached its lowest point. Um he remained obsessed with violent movies and video games and much of his anger was directed at his mother. On April 25th, 2011, everything inside the Bartlam family home seemed completely normal.

On Easter Sunday, Simon had been texting with Jackie and she seemed perfectly fine. She told him Daniel was to spend the day with his grandparents. He took the family dog Meg to be groomed, mowed the lawn at Jackie’s house, and ate some Easter chocolate eggs. The night before, Daniel had once again watched one of the Saw movies.

 Then, during the early hours of April 25th, he put his horrifying plan into motion. According to the investigation, he left the house and went into the backyard where he had already hidden a can of gasoline and a claw hammer inside the shed. He then came back through the yard, returned to the house, and went upstairs.

 After entering his mother’s bedroom, Daniel stood there for a while watching her sleep. Then he raised the hammer over his head and struck with devastating force. He hit his sleeping mother seven times, crushing her skull and facial bones. Afterward, he dragged her body onto the floor. He scattered pieces of newspaper around it, poured gasoline over her body, and then set it on fire.

 He then ran to his younger brother’s room, woke him up, and told him the house was on fire. The two boys ran out of the burning home together. While standing outside waiting for police to arrive, Daniel began telling neighbors that a masked man had broken into the house and escaped through his mother’s bedroom window. Before officers had even arrived, Daniel had already started lying to everyone around him.

 It didn’t take investigators long to begin questioning his version of events. When Simon first saw the news, all they reported was that there had been a house fire somewhere in Nottingham. About an hour later, it was confirmed that the fire had happened on Georgia Drive, where Jackie lived. Even though officials still hadn’t publicly identified which house had burned, Simon said he immediately knew it was Jackie’s home, and he also knew who was responsible.

Despite Daniel Bartlam’s attempts to cover up the crime, forensic investigators uncovered overwhelming evidence pointing directly to him. During a search of the house, investigators found two hammers. One of them was a claw hammer. Forensic testing confirmed it was the murder weapon. The second was a sledgehammer that Daniel had deliberately left behind to mislead investigators and send the investigation in the wrong direction.

Former Metropolitan Police Senior Detective Colin Sutton said the level of planning Daniel demonstrated, from preparing the murder and setting the fire to planting a false weapon and stubbornly sticking to his fabricated story, showed a degree of determination that is extraordinarily rare in a 14-year-old who commits such a horrific crime.

When police examined Daniel’s laptop, they uncovered even more disturbing evidence. Although Daniel had deleted one of the files just days before the murder, forensic specialists were able to recover it. It was a fictional story with Daniel himself as the main character. In the story, he was portrayed as a brilliant criminal who managed to avoid punishment after committing a series of brutal murders, rapes, and violent attacks.

 In that same story, he beat his own mother to death with a hammer. He then set her body on fire to make it appear that an unknown burglar had committed the crime. But the events of the morning of April 25th proved this wasn’t just fiction. It was exactly what he had planned to do. Just like the character in his story, Daniel tried to convince police that a stranger was responsible for the attack.

In the story, he wrote that the only person who could always see through him and recognize his wrongdoing was his mother, Jackie. So, one evening, he staged a break-in, murdered her with a hammer, and then set both her body and the family home on fire. After repeatedly denying responsibility and stubbornly sticking to his fabricated account, Daniel eventually admitted that he had killed his mother.

But then he gave police an entirely different story. He claimed he had argued with Jackie earlier that day before she went to bed. According to Daniel, at around 1:00 in the morning, he burst into her room. He said they got into a heated argument over a pair of sneakers he couldn’t find, and then he claimed he came back with a hammer and beat her to death.

But the evidence collected by investigators completely contradicted the story of a spontaneous attack. His own handwritten story proved this was not a crime committed in the heat of the moment. It was a carefully planned and meticulously thought-out murder. Trying to understand why Daniel committed such a horrific crime, neuroscientist Professor Francesca Happé explained in a documentary about the case that people with psychopathic traits often lack the internal moral barriers that stop most people from hurting others.

She said that for most people, simply seeing someone else in extreme distress is enough to make them stop. She explained that this doesn’t mean compassion itself is the reason people don’t commit violence. Rather, people with psychopathic traits often lack the internal restraint that prevents others from causing harm.

 She also said Daniel’s case remains deeply mysterious and on the surface appears to have no obvious motive. Professor Happé added that because children’s brains continue developing throughout childhood and adolescence, diagnosing psychopathy in a child is extremely difficult. At the same time, it is well established that adults with pronounced psychopathic traits often begin showing those traits at a very young age.

Forensic psychologist Professor Kevin Brown said, “Daniel was very different from most people who commit crimes this brutal. In cases like this, investigators usually find a history of childhood abuse or neglect. But in Daniel’s case, there was no evidence of either. The only event that appeared to have deeply affected him was his parents’ divorce.

 On October 4th, 2011, Daniel Bartlam pleaded not guilty in court. He claimed he had been provoked. Before the trial began, Daniel was evaluated by mental health experts for both the prosecution and the defense. Both sides reached the same conclusion. He had no psychiatric or psychological disorder. On January 23rd, 2012, Daniel Bartlam’s trial officially began.

After the investigation concluded, the case that had already captured the attention of the entire country moved into the courtroom, where all of the evidence and testimony would finally be presented. The Crown Prosecution Service now faced its most important task, proving that Daniel had intentionally murdered his mother.

 The prosecution’s entire case centered on establishing intent, convincing the jury that this wasn’t the result of a sudden emotional outburst, but a carefully planned killing. The case was unlike anything most people had ever seen and generated enormous public attention. News of the trial spread rapidly across the country with journalists, legal experts, and ordinary people closely following every development trying to understand how such a tragedy could have happened.

Very few people had ever encountered a crime this brutal committed by someone so young against a member of their own family. Daniel’s age alone made the case extraordinary and the circumstances of the murder only deepened the shock and disbelief. What stood out most was the extraordinary level of planning Daniel demonstrated before carrying out the murder.

That detail came up repeatedly throughout the trial and became one of the prosecution’s strongest arguments. Journalist Rebecca Sherdley, who covered the trial and attended the court proceedings, later recalled that when she first saw Daniel sitting in the defendant’s dock, she was genuinely surprised by how young he looked.

 According to her, he didn’t even look like a 14-year-old. She said, “He looked about 11 or 12 years old.” Rebecca also described Daniel as a quiet, soft-spoken, and submissive-looking boy dressed in dark clothing. At first glance, he appeared reserved, calm, and almost completely emotionless. But everything changed during cross-examination.

 After he had finished giving his testimony, the atmosphere in the courtroom shifted dramatically as the image he had carefully projected began to fall apart. Daniel suddenly came across as arrogant and self-assured. He answered every question with confidence. His manner of speaking changed and his responses were calm, direct, and delivered without hesitation, something that did not go unnoticed by those watching the trial.

Throughout the proceedings, Daniel often covered his face with his hands as though trying to hide from the people staring at him or conceal his emotions. But, as Rebecca pointed out, it didn’t look like shame, remorse, or grief. Instead, she noticed that he peeked through his fingers, seemingly trying to see who was watching him and how people were reacting to his behavior.

 She was left with the impression that he was carefully observing everyone in the courtroom. Jackie’s partner, Simon Mattes, also believed it was all an act. According to Simon, he never saw a single tear or any genuine sign of remorse. It seemed Daniel had little interest in what was happening in court, despite the gravity of the charges against him and the consequences he was facing.

 His defense attorney asked, “Did you plan to kill your mother?” Daniel replied, “I wasn’t planning to kill her at that particular moment.” During the trial, the jury heard the prosecution argue that Daniel had become so deeply immersed in his own imaginary world that the line between fantasy and reality had gradually become almost completely blurred.

 According to the prosecutor, this was one of the most disturbing aspects of the entire case. The court heard that his obsession with fictional scenarios and violent imagery had become so intense that it began to shape the way he viewed the world around him. Ultimately, the prosecution argued it led to the tragic events that forever changed the lives of so many people.

Addressing the court, the prosecutor said, “In my story, I got away with it, and I thought I’d be able to get away with it in real life, too.” The evidence gathered during the investigation and presented in court was so overwhelming that the defense chose not to deny the crime itself, but instead focused on explaining what they claimed had motivated it.

 Rather than challenging the core facts of the case, they took a completely different approach. Daniel claimed that he killed his mother after enduring years of verbal and physical abuse at her hands. According to him, that abuse had supposedly pushed him to a breaking point that ultimately ended in tragedy. From a legal standpoint, that version of events could have supported a defense based on a loss of self-control.

If the court had accepted those claims as proven, the murder charge could have been reduced to manslaughter, which would have significantly affected the sentence he faced. But, that account stood in sharp contrast to everything people had known about Jackie throughout her life. To her family, friends, and everyone who knew her, the allegations came as a complete shock and simply did not match the woman they remembered.

 Jackie was known as a kind, genuine, and caring person. People described her as someone who always looked after the people she loved, was quick to help others, and earned the respect of everyone who knew her. No one had ever seen her mistreat her children or use physical or any other form of abuse against them. That’s why Daniel’s claims raised even more questions and seemed impossible to reconcile with the testimony of people who had known Jackie for many years.

It almost seemed as though Daniel’s arrogance knew no limits. Near the end of the trial, he turned towards Simon and ran his finger across his throat, mimicking a throat-slashing gesture. It happened after everything that had already been said in the courtroom, and the moment did not go unnoticed. Simon later said he never took the gesture as a threat.

In his words, that was just Daniel. After a 2-week trial during which the jury heard witness testimony, reviewed the evidence, and listened to arguments from both sides, they unanimously found Daniel Bartlam guilty of murder. When the verdict was announced in court, Daniel lowered his head and stared at the floor.

Everyone in the courtroom watched his reaction in complete silence. For a moment, it looked as though he was about to cry. Some believed that his reaction wasn’t driven by remorse for what he had done, but by the realization that his own life would never be the same again, and that many long years behind bars now lay ahead of him. Mr.

 Justice Julian Flow said, “Yes, there were arguments between you and your mother, um but they were no different from the kinds of conflicts that often arise between mothers and their teenage children. I am completely satisfied that there was no physical or verbal abuse by your mother despite what you claim during this trial.

” While delivering the sentence, the judge also described the killing as a horrific, senseless, and monstrous crime. He emphasized that the circumstances of the case were shocking in their brutality, and that the consequences of Daniel’s actions had forever changed the lives of everyone who knew Jackie. On April 2nd, 2012, Daniel Bartlam was officially sentenced to life in prison.

The court also set a minimum term of 16 years that he would have to serve before becoming eligible for any review of his sentence. Under the court’s ruling, he will not be eligible to apply for parole until at least 2028. Even then, his release will not be automatic. It will only be possible if the appropriate authorities determine that Daniel no longer poses a danger to the public, and that releasing him would not create a risk to anyone else.

 The circumstances of this crime are both shocking and difficult to comprehend. We now know that Daniel Bartlam planned to kill his mom. He then executed the killing in a violent attack on her, and then he took a number of steps to try and cover this up by both burning her body and then lying consistently throughout the police investigation.

It was only after we spoke to other witnesses that we realized his account was not consistent, and he was then arrested. Following his arrest, we reviewed his computer and found that he deleted a story where a character called Daniel Bartlam killed his mother in exactly the same circumstances. As I’ve said, this is a shocking investigation and it’s shocked me personally, but the biggest impact is bound to be on Daniel’s family at Daniel and Jacqueline’s family.

Having spent time with them throughout the investigation and the subsequent proceedings, I can spare to say that they’ll probably never come to terms with what’s happened to them. There’s no evidence to to suggest Jacqueline was anything other than a loving mom and loving supportive Daniel throughout his life.

 After the jury unanimously found Daniel guilty and the court handed down his sentence, Mr. Justice Julian Flow, who presided over the case, made a separate ruling to lift the reporting restrictions that had protected the defendant’s identity. That meant Daniel’s name was no longer shielded by anonymity once the trial had concluded.

 Despite Daniel’s young age, the court officially allowed both his identity and the details of the crime to be made public. From that point on, information about the case became available to the general public and the reporting restrictions that had previously been in place were removed. That decision gave journalists the opportunity to report in detail on the investigation, explain the circumstances surrounding the murder, and reveal what investigators and the court had ultimately uncovered.

The case quickly attracted widespread media attention and its details became known far beyond the region where the tragedy had taken place. Detective Chief Inspector Kate Meynell, who led the investigation, later admitted that in her entire career, she had never encountered a case as brutal and shocking as this one.

She said that even years of investigating the most serious crimes had not prepared her for what she witnessed during this investigation. She said, “The level of brutality, the extent of the planning, and the sheer amount of lies he told are not just shocking, they’re terrifying. It’s incredibly difficult to grasp that a four-year-old 14-year-old boy could have carried out something like this.

This murder destroyed the lives of everyone it touched. Only one person truly knows why it happened, and that’s Daniel. He lied throughout the entire investigation and tried to destroy Jaclyn’s reputation. Everyone who knew her also knew that she lived for her children and was a warm, loving mother. Maybe one day Daniel will finally tell the truth because there are still so many unanswered questions that only he can answer.

 In a statement released on behalf of the family, Jackie Bartlam’s parents firmly rejected Daniel’s claims that portrayed his mother as cruel or abusive. They stressed that those allegations had no basis in reality and were completely false. According to her parents, Jackie was a wonderful, loving, and caring woman who always put the needs of others before her own.

They remembered her as someone with a kind heart who never stood by when someone needed help, support, or simply compassion. That was the woman her family, friends, and everyone who knew her personally remembered. The statement also said, “We are still struggling to come to terms with what Daniel has done.

 It’s impossible to put into words what we are going through right now. There are no winners in this case. We didn’t just lose Jackie. We lost Daniel too because of what he did. We know the court made the right decision, but it’s incredibly hard to understand how a boy you loved for 14 years could do something like this.” The most painful question of all, and the one only Daniel can answer, is why.

Simon said he doesn’t hate Daniel, but he doesn’t love him either. According to Simon, he simply doesn’t feel anything for him anymore. He explained, “I believe in forgiveness, but there are some things that can be forgiven, and there are some things that simply can’t.” It recently became public that Simon had received an official letter from the Ministry of Justice.

 The letter explained that after Daniel Bartlam was transferred to an adult prison, his sentence was subject to a mandatory review under the established legal process. The news once again drew attention to a case that even after all these years continues to stir powerful emotions among everyone who remembers the tragedy.

You have the right to submit a victim personal statement for the High Court to consider.” Simon said he was shocked by the decision and didn’t hide his disbelief after learning about the review.

 According to him, he had never expected things to take this turn and insisted that the court’s decision came as a complete surprise. He said, “I am completely against it. I don’t believe that after what he did, he can be rehabilitated, especially considering the horrific nature of the crime and how manipulative he is. My only concern is that he could manipulate the parole board into believing he’s changed.

 That’s my only fear. I’m not afraid of him personally. We may never know the full truth about what really happened that night. Some questions will likely remain unanswered forever and certain details may stay hidden from everyone who has tried to make sense of this tragedy.
