Try it. Right. Right.  Were you aiming for the head or was it a It looked like  aiming for chest. Aiming for chest. Kind of got my forearm  in there and then  Yeah.  Right in the  Yeah. Well, listen. I know it was frustrating. You could tell that you were frustrated all game about it. Uh but it didn’t work if we’re being honest.

 You went over 100 yards receiving uh for your 32nd time in your NFL career, which is the most ever tied for the most ever uh by a tight end all time. You tied Rob Gonowski. Uh you surpassed Tony Gonzalez. That’s  Roto. Shout out to Shout out to Grank and and Tony G. Man,  on the broadcast, Chris Collinssworth said Travis Kelce can read a defense better than 90% of NFL quarterbacks.

 I don’t know if that’s saying more about you or less about the quarterback state of the NFL.   What uh cuz let me tell you, I travel quarterback. You used to play quarterback. Why didn’t you just read it like that when you played quarterback? Cuz  I I didn’t realize what I was doing until I moved to the tight end room and I’m like, man, this game is way easier when you understand gap assignment and and leverage and coverages and stuff like that.

 I I was just back there trying to run around and play backyard ball when I was playing QB. Thanks. Thanks, Collinssworth. I appreciate the uh the shout out. And um I’m definitely I’m definitely reading defense. I feel like the only way to play offense is through the coach’s mind. What are the intentions of the play caller? And on top of that, how is that play being taught?  Yeah.

 You know what I mean? We’re calling this play on third and five because they’re a big man team. All right. Well, what is the quarterback’s thought process? If it’s man, then on top of that, what is it? If it if they switch it up and go some type of zone on us, what is his progression? How is he reading it out? Is what’s the number count to the boundary? What’s the number count to the field? How many guys are, you know what I mean? How are they going to [snorts] sound like the defense has always got to be a sound defense, right? Every gap has

to be accounted for. Every zone has to be accounted for. Quote unquote. That’s what they rely on. So if I know that, if I know what all their pieces are supposed to be doing, I just use it to my advantage and just kind of manipulate the defense in terms of stem and and timing.  30 second time most times everybody tight end going 100 plus yards are tied.

Um does 100 yards does that mean anything to you? Like if you let me if you come  that stat that stat is funny to me because all I can think about on that stat are all the games that I had like 95.  That’s what I’m saying. I was about to ask if you come out of a game  like what the  if you come out of a game with 98 yards are YOU LIKE    I just I watch the film and I look at the I look at every single catch and I’m like could have got it there could have got it there.

 So for some reason 100 yards does mean like that.  Um yeah I think I think that’s like a I mean depend it all depends on how you got it. You know I mean it’s one thing if they completely botch a play on your own 20 yardd line. you get a 80 yard, you know,  sure,  free, you know. I mean, it  it it means a little bit more in a tough game like last night where I had the ups and downs and we’re still able to find  10  10 catches. Yeah.

 10 catches, 10 drops  and uh and no tough drops.    I’ll be on the jugs all week.  Hey, Travis, where have you been? Where have you been?  How many drops did you really You only had You only had the two that I saw, right?  The one too many. And then you had the one unbelievable catch at the end of the game when it mattered most.

 Looked like a dancing bear out there.  Dancing yeti.  Dancing yeti.   Well, let’s talk about a quarterback that you definitely can’t read a defense better than, and that’s Patrick Mahomes.  Patrick Mahomes last night 43 for 68, 446 [clears throat] passing yards, 63 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. What is Mahomes missing besides an invite to new heights?   HE’S GOT EVERYTHING.

 Mahomes magic, baby. We got to get him on the show,  Pat. We got to get you on the show.  I mean, it is, man.  It is insane how well that guy is playing right now. It is  just completely willed the team, man. Just absolutely willed the team um through the ups and downs. His ability to just find a way. Third and 15.

 Find a way.  Crucial moments in the game. Find a  way, man.  That’s what I like the most about it.  He kept going. Interception, whatever. Everything’s moving along. Things are going wrong. Um, that’s the mark of a great leader, a great quarterback is how can you weather the storms, man? How can you continue to persevere? And he has just been so impressive all season long for you guys uh his whole career.

 His whole career. Yeah. No, exactly.  Well,  it’s fun enough, you know. You know, that’s enough love for Pat.  Easy. Okay. We’ve been on We’ve been on the Jaylen train all year. All right.  Yeah. We’re going to keep going on the Jaylen train. We got that interview coming up on Thursday.

 Make sure you tune in. And uh we got the Chiefs  D. Chiefs D allowed a total of 10 yards and a single first down in the second half. I watched the game and I didn’t even realize it was that crazy of a second half for that defense. Um, I’m not going to lie, going into the game, my thought process going into the game was if this game is close in the second half, it is going to be tough for Kansas City because Derrick Henry only gets better as the game goes.

 They’re a running team that gets just I mean, I think the last what six games he had had over 200 yards rushing or something like that like some crazy stat. I I can’t remember what it is.  I think it was against the Texans specifically. I think that’s that was  he had had that multiple games in a row, I think.  Damn, that’s crazy.

 Even if he It’s King Henry for a reason, man. You’re right. That guy definitely gets better as the game goes on. And  you look at the way that they’re built. They’re built on their run game, right? And I was like, I hope the my if I’m the Chiefs, I want to get out to an early lead and make them one-dimensional, make them a passing team in the second half, and then the game’s over.

 And the fact that it was close, I was kind of like, all right, how’s this going to go? Are they going to run all over the Chiefs in the second half? and your guys defense completely shut them out. Man, that was an amazing performance by the D. I thought  huge, huge performance. Bags is always a guy that gets us over the course of the season.

 His defenses every single year get better and better as the as the season goes on. I think it’s all on recognition how guys are trying to play us and then on top of that just defensive players un understanding their role not jumping out of gaps not doing things like that Chris Jones can’t say enough about how that dude’s playing right now man the best D tackle in the game I don’t care who you’re talking I don’t care about what this dude Aaron Donald has done in the past five years this year alone Chris Jones is playing absolutely lights out

you can’t freaking stop him you put two on him still isn’t enough. Then you you add our our linebackers, Bolt, Bolton, Willie Gay. Guys are flying around filling gaps. [snorts] It’s just uh it’s a fun defense to watch get after it. Um guys are making plays in the back end. It’s um it’s one of those things where I finally see everyone starting to mesh together.

 We got some We got help from our uh from our young rookie Trent McDuffy. Finally getting back in action after a few uh few weeks being injured and being on IR. So, we’re finally starting to come back together, be healthy, have the whole defense back at it and have all the pieces. And sure enough, Spags is just making sure that everybody’s at the right place at the right time because the past couple games defense has played freaking lights out, man. Especially in the second half.

Well, let’s go inside the game tying uh fourth quarter drive to take it into OT. Got a fourth quarter. Third and 17. Mahomes scrambles for 20 yards for the first down. Third and nine. Scrambles for 14 yardds  to the end zone to bring the Chiefs within two and then the two point conversion.

 What’s he going to do? Scrambles again.  Put the team on my back, baby. Put the team on my back.  What? Um  Magic Mahomes, man. He’s just taking it over. You You’ve seen it before, man.  He can he can do it in so many different ways with his arm, with his feet. Uh he has a unbelievable knack of uh feeling the game out, man.

 Uh  his running ability, his running ability in the pocket or behind the line of scrimmage has always been something that everybody praises. His ability to get out of the pocket, still feel good about throwing it anywhere on the defense. But his running game on the other side of the line of scrimmage is very very underrated.

 I’m not saying he’s anywhere close to like a Lamar Jackson in terms of shaking and making guys making guys miss, but he he definitely put some moves on some guys. Hit some guys with some hezys and and trucked a guy to get into the end zone last night. And that’s those are those are plays that you just don’t see out of quarterbacks with huge arms.

 You know what I mean? you like the  the only one I can say is is up there in terms of that is Josh Allen. And that that’s what makes those two, in my opinion, the best quarterbacks in the league.  But it’s it it it always gets me juiced up when I see5 make a crazy play with his feet because that’s just a dagger to the defense.

 You know what he can do with his arm. You know what he can do once he gets outside the pocket and now you have to you have to find a way to get him down with his feet and he’s still making guys miss.  Yep.  Just absolute daggering blows and you could tell after that touchdown drive that uh the defense was just they were drained after that one.

 Uh  yeah, kudos. I mean it was an unbelievable game time drive and then a great fourth quarter or a great overtime drive uh to get a field goal. Um, love seeing Andy Reid as aggressive as he was going for it on fourth down. I thought you guys were going to end up getting a touchdown and sealing it.

 But either way, tremendous win. And uh, speaking of the win, the Chiefs after the buy, Andy Reid is now 21 and3 post bye-week. What is the difference about the by-week preparation that Andy Reid does that makes him so uh, so good?  I mean, I think it’s a it’s a combination of a few things. We talked uh earlier on the on the podcast or on the show about if you give coach Reed extra time, he’s going to put together a flawless game plan.

 Um on top of that, he’s going to be that much more well aware of what the defense is, you know, trying to trying to do or try how they’re trying to stop us. And um you mix that with middle of the season having the buy, being able to relax mentally and just just take a deep breath and you know what I mean? We were talking about how the by-week was so big for the physical of this, but even more so for the mental, you know, being able to just break the routine, step away from the game for a few days,  stop eating cheeseburgers for a little

bit.  I would I would think it would the the cheeseburgers would go up.  Well, you just talked about how Andy Reid is just a cheeseburger maniac. You guys have cheeseburgers on the plane, cheeseburgers before the games, cheeseburgers for night meetings.  You don’t take a You don’t take a by-week from the cheeseburger.

 No, no, no, no. You just get the ones you want because you can only get a certain kind in the building. And now you got time to go to Five Guys. You got time to go to In-N-Out, you know? You got time to go to  Red Robin. You were you about to throw Red Robin in with those two?  Red Robin.

 We get Red Robin on the plane. So,  yeah.  What is it? What is your burgers? Is Five Guys are in and out right now. Go.  Five Guys.  Whoa.  You’re going to have a lot of people upset with you about that decision.  Five Guys, man. A lot of West Coasters going to be very upset about that decision.  Don’t shoot me.  In Out is delicious,  but you can’t beat Five Guys Burger.

 You can’t beat them.  Yeah. There’s something There’s something dirty about a Five Guys Burger. It feels like It feels like you get it in like the back of an alley. It’s like greasy. It’s like I don’t know what you guys put in this or how you made it so delicious. I know it’s going straight to my arteries.  Um, you know, the secret  menu.

 You want animal sauce? Like  I want that secret grease. I feel like I base all fat, all burgers on how they go out.  Yeah.  So, yeah, they all taste good when they’re going down, but how is this thing coming out of me is is what I’m really big off of.  In-N-Out is worse going out than Five Guys.  Yeah.  Really?  Yeah.  I feel like mine’s the opposite.

 There’s so much grease in the In-N-Out, but or the Five Guys, but I don’t I don’t care about it. What What else is another What’s your favorite fast food burger? Are we count? I I would say I would say in  it’s got to have a drive.  Five Guys isn’t  If it’s doesn’t have a drive-thru, it’s not fast food, right?  Five Guys is fast cash. Fast casual.

 All right. Has to have a drive-thru for our for purpose of this debate. Has to have a drive-through. What are your top three?  I’m not going to lie, man. I think Burger King’s got the best fast food burgers,  dude. I’ve been saying that for years. Did you Did I convince you of that? You’ve I’ve never heard you talk about Burger King outside of the Burger King hands.

 The Whopper. Double double Whopper with cheese.  It’s the best. You don’t even like mayonnaise, though.  Why do you like Why do you like the Whopper? Mayonnaise.  No mayonnaise. No onions.  That What do you Bro,  I don’t even know if you’re a qualified  Why don’t you just order mayonnaise?  the burger. Just order mayonnaise.

 What does that make any sense? I want the mayonnaise on the burger. Yeah,  you don’t eat mayonnaise on its own.  I’m going I’m going Burger King and then Wendy’s. the Baconator or at Wendy’s. Can’t go wrong. All right. And what’s three?  And I’m [clears throat] going the Triple Decker, by the way.

 Um, three would probably be Well, I mean, In-N-Out In-N-Out’s up there. It’s It’s probably one or two.  That counts for sure. It’s definitely got a drive-thru. It’s not a It’s not a national brand, you know. It’s It’s limited in certain jurisdictions, but pretty good. Yeah. Um, I used to love Wendy’s. And for those of you that don’t know, there’s a Wendy’s right across the street from Cleveland Heights High School that I had every day for lunch.

 Every day  for lunch, I would get two JBC’s for those of you Wendy’s rookies. That’s a junior baby burger.  We’re going straight value menu in high school, too. Two JBC’s  with a dollar.  Two fivepiece nuggets, which I don’t even know if they do five piece nuggets anymore.  I’m not sure.

 They used to do spicy nuggets, too.  I think they still do that, but  killer. two fivepiece nuggets, a frosty. That was my lunch every day in high school. And then I would go back into the cafeteria, get a honey bun and a fruit punch. And then I’ll go practice.  I don’t know how I was able to make that  kiwi strawberry topia.

 This Yeah,  you So, this is a long-winded way of saying that I no longer uh really enjoy Wendy’s that much cuz I overdid it.  Overdid it. Um  I overdid it, too. are still in there getting some spicy nuggets, man.  I would say number one, Burger King. Number two, McDonald’s.  If I’m going It’s just cuz it’s so available. It’s so available.

 It’s so available.  I’ll go with you on the breakfast side. I I I can’t go to McDonald’s.  Well, yeah.  For lunch or dinner. I can only go for breakfast.  Breakfast is unbelievable. You can’t beat a uh sausage, egg, and cheese, and muffin. But anyways, we’re on burgers. Anyways, I think it’s just because McDonald’s is so accessible that I think of it.

 It’s like always something that I can always go and get a quarter pounder, double quarter pounder, and slam it down and I’m going to be happy with it.  A Royale with cheese.  Royale with nice. Um, and then three, I I just can’t go in and out cuz it’s not on the East Coast. I can’t do it. I can’t go Shake Shack. Shake Shack is there’s not a drive-thru.

 There’s not drive-thru. Yeah. I mean that was that was cuz there’s nothing better. You know Shake Shack does that bun their bun they only cut it all the way until like they leave that last like so it like opens and closes. You know what I’m talking about? Like the bun is in two pieces.  So and it’s always at the bottom of that little pocket that it that they hand it to you in.

  And then that those last couple bites are just the juiciest,  greasiest, cheesiest.  I’m going to go number three steak and shake. And it’s actually a it’s it’s a patty melt. Frisco melt  right down the street.  Fris I’m going with the Frisco melt and uh with the strawberry shake on the side or chocolate shake on the side depending on the mood.

 The straw fries, man. Straw fries, skinny fries.  Yes, that’s right.  Every time it’s a nice switch up. Moving on to Eagles and Texans. That’s right. The Eagles 29, Texans 17. um a way closer game uh- especially throughout the first first half um than I think everybody expected, but um they uh they came ready to play.

 I mean, you guys are seven and0 going into it, so obviously you’re expecting everyone’s best shot at this point. Um what do you think, man? 8-0 start, the first ever in team history. Is this the best team you’ve ever played on?  I don’t know. We’ll find out. I think um I think we’re a really talented team. I don’t I don’t I mean 8 and0 is great, don’t get me wrong. It’s a good start.

It’s really hard to win every single week in the NFL. So much of what matters in the NFL and so much of what counts happens at the end of the year that you know the season always goes like this. And right now we’ve been just like, you know, we’ve been down in games and whatnot, but I mean I don’t know how many second halfs we’ve even been losing in.

 Yeah. Um, you know, I’m, you know, very much more focused on how we’re going to be at the end of the year. You know, this is something that we’re continuing to get better at. It does not matter. Well, it matters, but it, you know, it’s it matters more about how we continue to improve.

 Every team in the NFL is going to continue to improve until the end of the season. And if we don’t do that, we’re going to be uh on the outside looking in of where we want to be.  Yeah.  So, I think um  to be honest, 8 is great. cool that we’re the first team in Eagles history to achieve that, but uh it is not at all uh a part of the goals of our team uh season wise.

 Yeah. Well, it didn’t necessarily look like it was a Philadelphia Eagles playing. It looked like it was the Philadelphia Jason Kelsey’s because you were the featured back on every single play. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a center get featured as much as you were uh the entire night, which is kind of obnoxious.

 And um I don’t necessarily know I don’t know. I don’t know how much I appreciate it because why? Because you just get why aren’t they talking about the rest of the O line? You guys have the best O line in the quote unquote best O line in the NFL and we can’t get Jordan Mada or Lane Johnson a feature on any of these run plays where they’re blocking their asses off.

 They just got to show you in motion.  That’s fair. That’s fair. We definitely need to give more O line love. But I’m just happy they’re talking about offense line in general. I’m tired of watching Chiefs games and them talking about Travis Kelce catching footballs.  Yeah, they need to talk more about how he can’t catch the  football.

 Um, but I do I do love me some Jason Kelsey highlights, man. Uh, obviously you in space is uh is fun to watch. You want to talk about a dancing bear? Kurt Herbstreet tweeted uh about Jason after the game. I know Tel and Jason Kels are funny and very entertaining, especially with their new heights show.

 All right, shout out. get the show with a little shout out, man. I can’t beat it. Um, both have bright futures in the media world if and when they choose. But in the meantime, I enjoy the hell out of how they both play the game. So good. Jason was a clinic reel last PM. And uh, always love the shout outs, Kirk. I’m right there with you, man.

 I love some Jason Kelsey. I just think it’s a bit obnoxious. You guys go to him on every single successful run. Like, he was the main one that that broke it. Okay. Miles Sanders is back there making dudes miss left and right and we’re worried about Jason helping out a three technique or getting to second level.  It’s usually just going to the second level.

 Yeah.  For every for every uh pull pull block or uh uh down block uh you know there there’s somebody uh blocking a big guy and making sure that I can pull around and go get the  little guy. So that’s a good scheme. That’s that’s how you know your your coaches  play to your players strengths.

 There you go. Good coaching.  Um Jason, are you feeling like this is like the most love that you’ve had in a season to date? Like in years years prior, you’ve had you’ve you’ve gotten a few shout outs. You’ve gotten a few, you know, highlights of you on the screen here and there, but I mean, you were literally one of the features of the game and they had you come on the to the podium after the game.

 I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a lineman get called to the podium. That was pretty cool  after a Monday night game. So, I don’t know. That’s uh pretty dope.  I think I think I’m getting more love this year that is like unearned love than I’ve ever gotten in my  career. I think I think I’ve  There were a few of those plays where you did absolutely nothing, but just kind of get in the way and they’re just like, “This guy’s a Hall of Famer.

” I think um you know I think I’ve got a lot of love for a long time because obviously I I do a lot of things out on the perimeter and things that are uh very athletic that I think uh surprise people that an offensive lineman can make those types of blocks. So I’ve always gotten that kind of love whenever a game is happening like that.

 But now I just get love for being like old and still playing. THEY’RE LIKE, “MAN,  CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS GUY’S still out there?  He’s still doing it. LOOK AT HIM. HEY, LOOK AT Grandpa Run.”  Yeah. He’s trying, man. Hey, he  give give that guy credit. Um, yeah, I get a lot more just like credit for being old and still playing football than I’ve ever gotten, which is nice.

I’ll take it.  That’s like that’s like how I felt. Um, after the Raiders game, the Al Bundy game, I scored four touchdowns, had 25 yards. One of the worst stat lines, one of the worst best  stat lines of NFL history. Worst best stat lines of NFL history. And um in the in the in the facility we got these bodacious shirts, you know what I mean? The bull don’t  care, man.

 Bodacious, for everybody that doesn’t know, was a famous PBR bull that just was the biggest, baddest, most ferocious. Nobody wanted to touch this dude or everybody was trying to, you know, complete a full ride on him and it just wasn’t happening. I I forget his actual record or the Bull’s actual record, but um the bodacious mentality is the bull don’t care who’s on his back, he’s tossing him.

 and um have that bodacious mentality uh in a game, you know, that’s the mentality that we want to play with. And um sure enough, after the Oakland game, I’m just getting my  ass beat the whole game at the line of scrimmage getting punched in the ground.  You mean the Vegas game?  Yeah, my bad. The Vegas game, the Vegas Raiders game this year.

 And um it was there have been games where I’m like I go into the building that next day and I’m like, man, I might get a t-shirt this game, man. I had a had a few tough blocks, you know, stuck my face in the fan, you know, cut a few guys, showed some bull-like behavior and um this was the last  game I was thinking I was going to get him for, man.

 It was just like all the coaches looked at the film was like every single play this guy’s getting  punched in the face and just tackled on the field and just thrown around like a ragd doll. Man, you know what? You made it through. And that’s bull-like behavior.   That’s the There’s There’s no award that you appreciate.

 Yeah, it’s such a terrible award. It’s like   it’s like right up there with like the most improved player. It’s like, wait, what are you saying? Like I was crappy before I got the  I thought I was good already. Hey, you got better, man. You did really good job.  The bodacious award. Yeah.

 Way to get your ass beat and walk out of the fire, man.  There’s nothing worse than than being celebrated for getting your ass kicked. She’s like, “Yeah, I know it sucks. You We all know it sucks. You don’t have to act like I’m doing anything crazy. I’m doing my job. I don’t need your sympathy points.

” Let’s talk about the most unselfish guy on the team. Cuz really, it’s neither one of us. The most unselfish guy on the team, hands down,  are the tight ends on field goal. Their jobs  are literally  grab the take your right hand and you grab the thigh.  Grab the thigh pad of this guy. Take your other hand, punch out to expose your entire chest,  and then oftentimes three people just barrel through you, and you’re not allowed to do anything.

 You can’t lean, you can’t move your arm and open a gap, otherwise that thing’s getting blocked.  Blocked.  You just got to die slow. You got to absorb everybody as slow as possible. and and literally 99% of field goals that tight end is on his back just getting pounded into the ground.  Absolutely. Pile drived  when the coaching when the coaching point is die a slow death.

   You know you you got you’re in for a rough assignment.    Hey. Hey, you’re really get Hey, I know you’re taking one for the team here. Hey, let’s get let’s all give it up for THE LEFT TIGHT END.  Left tight end. Way to go, baby. We Hey, couldn’t do it without you. Keep on running out there. It is awful. It is.

 Kicker kicker’s best friend, man.  Did it for a year, man. Not fun. Not fun. Left tight end on field, right tight end on field goal. That is a very unselfish position. Um,  yeah,  somebody’s got to do it. We got to do it.  That’s the dirty jobs that uh Mike Row missed. He He missed that one.   Tight on field goal.

 No field goal, baby. That would have been a good show. 18 play 91 yard drive.  Felt everyone.  18 play.  Oh my gosh.  Absolutely ridiculous. And it was the opening drive.  First drive.  Opening first drive of the game. 18 play.  Talk about waking your legs up.  Yeah. Waking everything up, man.

 Uh fans want to hear about it, man.  What do they want to hear about? How exhausted I was. I didn’t even celebrate. Kenny scored or we we get in the end zone and I’m like, dude, I’m not celebrating with nobody. I’m going right to the sideline. Going to get some of this oxygen and rest these boys up cuz I know another drive’s coming quick.

 It was an exhausting drive, but awesome. I mean, whenever you can do something like that, it it it feels good as an offense when it’s  it’s a booster, man. For sure.  You get multiple third down conversions, Jaylen making big plays to keep the thing alive. Um I mean, it was a it was a great drive to start the game and a huge uh tone setter for the offense.

Yeah, they they they more so want to hear about how you pulled illegally  pulled. What are you talking about?  Kenneth G. What do you mean? That was an illegal play. You cannot pull a running back.  I didn’t pull anybody.  What?  I didn’t pull anybody.  You held the man up and yanked him.  He He was falling into I couldn’t do anything.

 He fell into your arms. That’s going to be your argument.  He fell into my lap and I was He was pushing me and I was just trying to not fall down. I’m like, I   I didn’t I didn’t pull anybody. I just [snorts]  Jason, you’re clearly grabbing the man, HOLDING HIM UP.  EERRONE. EERRONE ON ALL COUNTS.

[screaming] This man, if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying, man. You heard it from Jason Kelsey. Um, take us inside that final drive though to seal the game. Um, Herz ran for 14 yards on a third and 15. Well, leading up to that third and 15 on it was only third and 15 because I had an illegal man downfield play that like put us into that situation.

 RPO or you just get excited? It  was RPO and it was kind of like I don’t mean to I was engaged at the line of scrimmage. I think it was a tickytacky call. Another way of saying  ladies and gentlemen. Anyways, uh I didn’t think it was a good call, but whatever. It got called. So,  for those of you that don’t know what an RPO is, it’s a run pass option.

 that is it’s it’s a run play for the offensive lineman with a few short routes by the wide receivers or running backs or anybody out of the back field um not getting the hand off and it’s uh yeah so there there was times where the throw might go out to a wide receiver and the lineman are still blocking the  run play and get caught downfield.

 Yeah. Anyways, um so we’re in third and 15. we call a draw play. And um I make the block on the linebacker, but I can tell by the way the linebacker is playing it that he’s really not interested in playing Jaylen. He’s just trying to like force the play.  So I kind of just try to shove him aside, but he kind of clips my knee because I wanted to hit him and then get another guy so we get the first down,  right?  Every good man gets gets gets one.

 It’ be great.  So, I get clipped and I start falling like I’m falling out the bar and I’m stumbling over here and stumbling over here and Jaylen jes the crap out of like three guys. The only reason he didn’t get the first down on his own is because I grabbed him to I was like, “What? Let me come with you.

” LIKE,   I remember this one.  It slowed him up. And then the same guy I blocked first is the guy that causes the fumble. And then everybody’s like, “Kel, great job hopping on the ball.” I was like, did anybody witness that I just caused this entire situation to  happen?  Restricted Jaylen from making  my guy that I should have if I would have just kept blocking if I would have just kept blocking that guy, Jaylen would have jked those other three guys, then it would have been a first down.

But instead, I tried to do too much. I inhibited Jaylen and then the guy that I was supposed to be blocking the entire time causes the fumble. They’re like, “Hey, Kels, great fumble reception.”   Kurt Kurt Herbstry, we need to get on top of this. All right. If we’re going to showcase this man doing all these unbelievable things, we got to make sure the people know when he does.

 He’s He’s still human. All right. He’s still human. I love it, man. That’s good stuff. Way to get on the  ball, though, bud.  Always. Anyways, I fall on the ball. We’re short by a yard. Fourth and one. Quarterback sneak. Line it up. Do a hard count. We get them, but I think the play clock was going down, so coach called a timeout just so we didn’t get a delay game. And uh lineup, doesn’t matter.

We’re gonna do the same thing again. Shocker.  Shocker.  92% of the time.  92% of the time it works every time.  It’s turning into 100% of the time because according to uh uh 100% uh uh to prime stats.  We’re 100% on We’re 100% on one yard rushes.  I’ll tell you what, I don’t I don’t know what prime stats are, but it sounds official.

 Yeah. I mean, I can think of at least two one-yard runs that we didn’t get, but if they said it, it counts, right?  I’m right there with you. I um Yeah,  we definitely didn’t get a jet sweep in one of the games for a yard and we I think we actually missed a one-yd rush in that game.

 Anyways, 100% according to Prime stats, one-yd runs, we’re getting them. Thank you, Prime Stats. Believe everything you see on Twitter, folks. Erroneous League’s best bromance. You had the postgame interview with Jay  talking about Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.  I mean, this is we we’ve had the bromance going for years now, though.

You guys, this is like new love. This is love that nobody even knew was possible. A center and  just a month talking about just a month ago, Britney Mahomes tweeted that she was jealous. Patrick Mahomes wife tweeted that she was jealous of you and Patrick’s relationship.  What? Britney said that about us?  Britney said that? I read that tweet.

 Oh  I didn’t know.  So, we’re going to talk about my bromance when you  That’s your bromance. I’ve never been on on TV singing a lullabi with my quarterback. Okay. I’ve never been  a lullaby. There’s a fight song  and we were asked to do it by Amazon Prime.  That’s a fight song.  Yeah, that’s what it’s called.

 It’s called the Eagles fight song.  Good for you guys, man. We don’t have one of those. Um,  no, it was cool. I enjoyed I enjoyed watching it.  You wish you had one.  The bromance is uh it’s real, man. I witness it firsthand, baby. And uh you guys will be able to witness uh even more of it as the season unfolds, but definitely this Thursday when the uh the episode drops with Jaylen.

 Um you got to meet his family after the game.  I did. It was awesome. Yeah. I didn’t  It only It only took you one entire season and eight games to meet your quarterback’s family. It’s beautiful. I’ve I’ve met people before.   I’ve met, you know, individuals. I’ve met people in  Even Even after people meet all the time.

 Yeah. Yeah. I’m a big people meter. Listen, I didn’t really uh I don’t know. I I met a few of them after the game, but you know, you could tell that he wanted to get his family time in, so I didn’t want to take up too much time, but it was awesome.  It was awesome to see how many people came out to support him.

 He was in his hometown. I mean, I don’t know how many tickets he had, but it was it was a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was north of a hundred.  I was about to say Jaylen Herz, you already know, man, that came out. He’s he’s still  uh imple like implemented in his community. His father’s still a high school football coach with his brother.

 So, obviously the the love for the Herz out [snorts] there is through the roof. So, I’m sure he had half of the stadium filled uh cheering for him. Um, similar to how we we when we play in Cleveland, all the family and friends show up. I mean, it’s uh it’s the best when you get to go home and play in front of your your friends.

 That’s what I enjoy playing on prime time and uh getting back to Cleveland and playing a game in Cleveland. I get to showcase my love for the game uh from the people that I built the love with. You know what I mean? And um that’s always the best, man. So, I’m glad he uh he got to show out and get the dub in front of his his family and friends back home.

 Um, is the QB and center relationship the most important on the team?  I don’t know. Probably the QB head coach is the most important relationship on the team. But  yeah, either that or a QB tight end.  QB tight end is probably the least important. Everybody  name a great quarterback. Name a great quarterback.  Name a great quarterback.

 Name a great quarterback.  Uh, Ben Rothllessberger.  Todd Heath.  Yeah, but he ain’t. Come on now. Do you think those guys were best buds? 1,000%.  All right, let’s go. Great quarterback that I know cannot have a  tight end.  You can’t find them.  That is  That’s because it’s such an easy guy to throw the ball.

  You’re right. It is the best matchup on the field.  All right, let’s think. I know there’s one.  Tom Brady. Grunk. See what he does without Grunk.  Okay, Aaron Rogers. Aaron Rogers.  Aaron Rogers.  Come on.  YOU GOT ME.    BIG BOB TUNION. I KNOW. I KNOW. I know. Rob, my guy. Aaron.

 Aaron’s a different breed, man. He’s a different breed. He did have He did have um Yeah, Jamaich Finley. He did have Jamaich Finley.  He had a few hop, skipping a hop, skipping a jump for sure.  Shout out to Jamaich. He was one of those real dogs in the receiving game, too.

 He just got banged up and got got hit with some injuries, man. I loved watching that dude play. Um,  all right. Let’s think of Let’s think of another one.  You think of any of them, man. Any of them.  I need a list. I need a list in front of me to do something. We’re going to figure this out.  Had Peyton had a great quarterback, great tight end in Dallas.

 On top of that, when he was and Tammy um when he was in Denver, he had uh Julius Thomas.  Yeah.  Um notorious for having a great tight end everywhere. I I think I think we’re throwing the the word great tight end very loosely around here. I think a lot of these guys get made to look because their quarterbacks are unbelievable.

 Um I think a lot of these guys you probably would not have seen much from if they didn’t play with those guys, but you know, whatever. I’m not going to  say that about everybody on the team.  Well, yeah. I mean, that that’s a big part of it. I mean, but there’s certain guys like I mean that produce with those quarterbacks and they go other places and produce there.

 And I mean, there’s guys that produce because they’re also good players, not just because they played with like a great tight end or a great quarterback.  Yeah. But tight end is probably a little bit more.  Yeah.  Important than the center quarterback.  Center for sure.  Not zero% chance.  [gasps]  Whatever, man. Man, whatever, man.

 The tight I will say this though, the tight end is a important person to have because they kind of bridge the communication across everything happening. They’re involved just enough in the run game, just enough in the passing game that they kind of know everything that’s happening in the game plan more than most of the other positions do.

 Um, so they’re oftent times uh the guys that I like to go to to ask what they think about things or um you know it’s it’s it’s a position group that uh because of their hand being and everything uh they’re good guys to to know. So maybe you’re right. Maybe tonight relationship is more important than I’m giving it credit for.  Just saying.

 All righty.  Just saying.  Player insights.  Hold on. I got I got one more, man. I got one more. So, we we had the interview.  Yeah, with Jaylen.  And it was awesome. It’s It was so cool to just kick it with him. But do you feel like you guys’ relationship got a little bit  I do I actually do really do well I think you know  I think and we had a tight relationship before that but I think anytime you sit down for two hours and talk to somebody  uh about anything uh you’re going to like become closer from it.

 You’re going to find something new.  There’s things that I learned in that interview that I did not know before. Um not just about his career but just about him. Um, it was a it ended up being a great way to connect with a teammate and I think we’re definitely closer having done that interview. No question.

 Nice, man. Can’t wait to get Patty Mahomes on here. Get closer with him.  It’s going to be the best.  All righty.  Maybe I’ll have the courage to ask him one day. All right. Uh, go on.  Player [snorts] insights on NFL storylines. NFL. Let’s Let’s just put this out there.

 Let’s put it out there in the universe. Patrick, do you want to come hang out with me and my brother and my  show?   dweeb.  I got other things to worry about, Travis.  All right.  All right, let’s say it. We’ve been talking about this for years. All NFL games should be played on grass fields.  Man, take care. It  is a joke.

 Take care of your players, man. I  it is so ridiculous my feeling of my body after a game on turf than the feeling of my body after a game on grass.  I can only imagine if the game I just played against Tennessee was on turf. Like I w I barely walked out of that thing and I know I 10 it it’s magnified by 10 whenever I play on turf.

 every single step in the fourth quarter, you feel in the knees and in the joints, in the ankles. At least this is just for me. I um I have  I don’t think I don’t think you’re alone in this. I think that is a leaguewide hate playing on turf. I think it’s silly. The ground’s harder when you hit it.

 Um more more concussions happen on turf because of how the players helmets hit the ground. Uh more injuries in general because of the the style of turf there there is. the some cleats grab more, some cleat sit on top of the turf differently to make it more of an unstable surface, which puts more uh pressure and like strain on your joints and your  everything in your scientific. Okay.

 No, for real. I’ I’ve gotten I do not play around with this  I um I absolutely I count every single game preseason how many games I got on turf just so I can mentally prepare.  You count You count preseason how many you have on turf?  Yeah. So, it’s I I just I I definitely am aware of which games I’m going into are turf games.

 And on top of that, whenever we practice on turf, I am Oh,  that.  I’d rather practice in sleet, snow, thunderstorm with a chance of getting struck by lightning than to run inside on the turf.  People, keep in mind,  keep in mind, this is from people that are both over 30 years old and have a lot of uh uh builtup  damage to their joints.

 I did not feel this way when in college. I loved turf. I preferred turf.  High school. I thought turf was the coolest kid ever.  You felt so fast. You remember that astroturf field that freaking  I remember Lakewood, baby.  It was like you were I could run. I felt so fast on that thing.  And then you slide on it and it would rip the entire first layer of your skin  off.

 But we’re no longer the only ones that feel this way. Uh we know now that a lot of guys feel this way. Uh, Packers, Devandre Campbell. Uh, this is two weeks in a row we’ve had players get injured on turf fields. I think it’s time you y’all take some of that money y’all make off of us and invest it in grass fields for every team around the league.

 The turf is literally like concrete. It has no give when you plant at NFL.  I’ve seen a lot more injuries of guys just putting their foot in the ground and tearing an ACL on turf. Um, obviously it’s it’s liable to happen on grass. I’m sure it’s happened before where it’s just a freak injury, but there’s something about the turf and either the give or how the cleats sit on top of the the surface uh and just put more strain on those joints.

 I It just makes more sense. There’s so many more benefits. Even if you just rolled out a fresh some fresh grass in an indoor stadium, um there’s new ways to get it all to kind of kind of grow together and mesh together to where it’s it’s thick enough. There’s so many different way there’s so many so much out here.  We know they know how to do it.

 We know I mean they got UV lights. They got uh they got it rolled up like carpets. There’s ways to get grass if they want to. Yeah. I mean Yeah. I mean, listen, I I don’t know what all the injury like statistics say. I do know that anecdotally, I know without question,  anecdotally,  I know without question that everybody prefers grass and that people feel much better with their joints, their knees, all that stuff after they play on grass and when they play on turf.

 You done?  Yeah.  All right. And um I think uh and we know that they know how to do this because with the World Cup coming to the USA uh the World Cup only let you play on grass  only  and there are stadiums that they are going including including Jerry World in Dallas where they are going to put grass down for that World Cup game because that’s the only way they do the game.

 So it can be done and it should be done in my opinion.  It doesn’t matter if it’s indoor outdoor. We grew up in Cleveland and it had grass all year round in our front yard. It didn’t matter if it was snowing. It didn’t matter if it was, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, you can maintain grass anywhere in the States.

It doesn’t matter if you’re up in Buffalo, down in San Diego, or down in Texas somewhere. It doesn’t matter where you are, you can maintain grass and get it to grow and get it to grow together to where it’s a safe surface. Um, that happens all over the world, man. I just don’t understand why the league hasn’t I I feel like this is on the PA at this point.

 We got to the PA is the ones that need to fight for us for this because the NFL does it because in my I think the reason they do it is because they want to hold all the events. They want to do all it is. Yeah.  Well, it’s cheaper to maintain and then on top of that um they want to do all these extra events, all these things with the stadiums, concerts, whatnot, and it’s not as much. Yeah.

 You name it.  Um I get it uh from a business standpoint, but man, it sucks as a player standpoint. And uh that’s probably why it won’t change at all. And we’ll be playing on turf. uh for ever. Anyways, okay, let’s get to the next one.  Jeff Saturday,  my man,  Colts in a room head coach.

 Man, what a headline I did not see coming.  This is crazy. This is a crazy story. It really is.  All the respect in the world for Frank Wright. Um unfortunately, didn’t didn’t work out for him.  Super Bowl champion.  Super Bowl champion.  Multiple teams.  Great coach, man.  Yeah. Yeah.  Um there’s a lot of lot that goes into making a good football team and unfortunately they couldn’t figure it out.

 But uh Jeff Saturday being hired, it’s almost like the owner for the Colts just walked in to the stadium was like, “Man, what am I going to do, man?”  Yeah.  And looked up at that Ring of Honor and said,   Jeff Saturday,  I know just the guy.  I mean, you you want to talk about charismatic, very relatable. He seems like he’d be a great leader.

 Seems like he puts his all into everything, even when he talks uh on TV or does any of the any of the stuff for ESPN. Absolutely love listening to him.  He’s a Colts guy through and through. So, you know, you’re getting an authentic guy,  a guy that cares about that city, ingrained in the city,  you know?  I I I think it’s a it’s it makes more sense the more I think about it.

 But at the end of the day,  how bogus is it to just hire a guy on the Ring of Honor and have no coaching experience outside of his high school or coaching high school in Georgia?  Yeah. Well, he is actually So, he isn’t a a consultant for the Indianapolis Colts.  Oh, all right.

 So, he was already in he was already in the facility.  Yeah, he’s familiar. I think I believe that that is correct. I think  probably has an understanding of the team and the players on the team. um probably in a few meetings in terms of personnel and stuff like that, I would assume.  Yeah. I mean, it’s still it’s still very um  odd.

 Uh new. Yeah. I don’t want to say odd. I mean, I’ve never seen this done. I’ve never seen uh someone hired that wasn’t already on the coaching staff to be the interim coach to finish a season.  Um not going to say that it hasn’t been done. I just let alone call somebody getting hired as a NFL head coach that has never had any coaching experience higher than high school  and consultant work.

 But um  I’m not going to lie, I’m excited to see how it goes. I really am. They got a great offensive line. They got a great running back. And who is not excited to watch Jeff Saturday finally call plays?  Are we gonna run the ball?  I know.  We gonna run the ball. I know one person who’s not excited to watch Jeff Saturday call plays and that’s uh Pton Manning.

He is not excited about this. I still remember that HEATED DEBATE. WE GOT TO RUN THE ball there. WELL,  DAMN IT, JEFF. JEFF, YOU JUST RUN THE PLAY AS CALLED. YOU JUST RUN THE PLAY AS CALLED. DUDE, YOU’RE NOT THE HEAD COACH.  YOU DON’T CALL THE PLAYS, JEFF.  WE GOT TO RUN THE BALL.  YOU DON’T CALL THE PLAYS, JEFF.

 WELL, now you do, Jeff.  Now you do.   I can’t wait to see him run the  out of the ball. This is his postgame interview. If they win and they ran the  out of the ball, you just got to be like, “See, Peyton?”  Yeah. What’ I tell you?  What I  tell you, man.   This is going to be awesome, man.

 I can’t wait to see how they turn out, man.  nine tackles, four solo, one sack, and one signed baby. That’s right.  He signed a baby.  He did something that Travis Kelce wouldn’t. He signed a baby right after the game. I don’t know if he was listening to the show and found out what it’s like to really give the fans what they want.  What he do? Was it on the forehead, on the arm, where?  No, I mean, he the baby had a one  I got to know.

 I got to know for next time. So, I I sign a baby in the correct cuz  you can sign a baby anywhere.  You can sign a baby anywhere. That  just doesn’t register to me, man. I just can’t.  Marker, I hate having Sharpie on me. I can only imagine.  Baby doesn’t know any better. Baby’s got  in his face.

 You think he cares about a Sharpie on his skin? What are you talking about, dude?  You think it’s worth? Oh, I got a mark on my hand.  What’s that theme song?  It wasn’t Pizza Bagels. It was a pizza bagel. It was like the the like more hardy version of It wasn’t like the little mini pizza bagels. You know what I mean? I I don’t think  Yeah.  that. Either way, signing is under review. Okay. We just saw in the  video that he didn’t actually sign the baby skin.

 He signed the baby’s shirt, which I’ve signed a million baby shirts. Okay.  You signed a million baby shirts.  At least at least a million. Okay.  While the baby’s wearing it, or just the little onesie sign while the baby  I’ll cut it in half. I’ll cut it right in half. While while the baby has been wearing I’ve definitely signed a baby’s shirt while the baby was wearing it.

 So, you’ll sign a baby shirt?  Yes. I don’t know. I I cannot be the only one that thinks putting Sharpie on a baby is the is I don’t know. I guess I might be. I just don’t get it. Shout out to Derwin James for taking his game to new heights and signing a baby because  way to go.  Not all of us can.  Way to be a great NFL player and appreciate your baby fans.

 [snorts]  I chose Justin Fields, man. Obviously, he’s had a lot of success in his in his career. um the start of his career in Chicago. A lot of scrutinized for whatever reasons. 15 carries, 178 yards, one touchdown just on the ground this past weekend against the Miami Dolphins, 17 for 28 passing with 123 yards passing and three passing touchdowns.

 So, four touchdowns all together. Nice Al Bundy Knight for my guy Jay Fields. Um, and he broke Mike Vick’s record for QB rushing yards in a regular season game.  Damn.  Wow.  We all uh we grew up in that era that absolutely idolized Mike Vic. So, that that stat or that right there, [clears throat]  that record right there is uh it’s it hits a little bit more.

 And I think uh yeah, Justin, hell of a way to take your game to new heights, man. Breaking Michael Vic’s records ain’t no easy thing. And um only thing is next time just got to get the dub, baby. Got to get the dub. make it feel a little bit sweeter. Um, but way to take your game to new heights.  Way to go, Justin.

 All right, let’s get let’s get a look ahead to week 10.  The Commanders at the Eagles be the second time playing the Commanders this time at the link, baby. What’s uh what’s different about playing a team for the second time in one season?  Well, you know, obviously you’ve already watched a lot of tape on them. You’ve played them, so you’re familiar.

 And you know, usually, I mean, it’s an in division game, so a lot of these guys you’ve already played for multiple years. So, yeah,  it’s a team that you end up being really familiar with. Um, and that also means they’re really familiar with you. So, um, you know, it’ll be interesting to see.

 It always is to see if they come out attack you the same way. Obviously, there’s going to be some new wrinkles. Um, but I always enjoy the second time around and um, you know, I just feel like I’ve already kind of watched a lot of the tape and you can go into it kind of thinking a little bit more about um, you know, higher level things having already done a lot of the grunt work on it.

 There are some rumors circulating that uh, Dan  Snder  Well, yeah, there’s some rumors I think this is more than quarterback play. Uh there’s some rumors circulating that Dan Snyder is going to sell uh the Washington Commanders. Um yeah, who should buy him? Anybody. Anybody but Dan Snyder. I think that’s the only  answer. I mean, you know, uh I mean I I don’t know what is going on with that organization.

 Um I know we’re about to play them. I’m not trying to talk trash. It just seems like there’s a lot of outside noise. There’s a lot of  going on inside that facility.  Matthew McConna, Jeff Bezos, Jay-Z, that sounds like an incredible contingent. Um, it might be I mean, I think that’s pretty cool. I’m sure Eagles fans would love to play Matthew McConna and hear some, you know, awesome pregame speeches from uh uh  You think if he owned the team, he would come down and give pregame speech?  I mean, it’s Matthew McConna. He’s a

great I can’t take I would never be able to take that serious if he walked in and gave  you wouldn’t be able to take Matthew McConna serious. [sighs]   I just  He’s a gem.  He is 1,000%. But he’s an actor.  He is an actor.  I  Let’s be honest. Let’s be honest. Most pregame speeches are acting.

  Especially the one on the field in front of all the cameras. Let’s be honest.  You’re right.  That is  That’s why I don’t like doing them, man. They just don’t  feel genuine at all.  All right, we’ll break them down. Kel, she got us.  Yeah.  Tonight, boys, is the night we we become men.  You almost bought a team once.

 You almost bought the New York Mets with  Yeah.  A-Rod and JLo. Yeah. Almost happened.  Allocation that almost went through, man. We almost uh almost owned the Mets, man. That was that was about to be crazy. It was uh through a friend that uh was managing some of um A-Rod’s cash that I knew from up in Cleveland.

 And um sure enough, the connection came together and we were like, you know what, let’s do it. If if we’re going to make a run at it, I’m down to to shock the world and become a baseball owner. I’ve always wanted to, you know, have a piece of the Cleveland Guardians, uh because they gave me so much excitement growing up as a kid and I knew I was never going to be able to actually swing a bat for them.

 So, why not get in as a minority owner? Um,  Dream’s still alive if you’re listening, Guardians. Um, but either way, man, I uh I think that I don’t really have any connection to the Mets, so that was not like a heartbreaker when we didn’t get it.  Sure.  But it would have definitely been cool to own a team with JLo and A-Rod.  So, do you want to own a team? And doesn’t matter what team does do you want to own one of like the big four like NFL part of another organization Major League Baseball?  Yeah. I just I like being a part of

teams. I like being a part of  the camaraderie.  What about pickleball? Would you buy a pickleball team?  I would I would be one of those owner players if it was a pickle ball team for sure.  Can’t be a player. We’re talking about just owning.  Not as exciting for pickle ball, but no.  Sure. Why not? Ping pong.

Player owner  NASCAR.  Nah,  can’t I can’t sit there that long and just watch circles. Have you uh Have you ever been in a conversation of owning a [snorts] sports team?  No. Nobody wants me to own a team. They don’t they don’t they they they think I’m too much of a loose cannon. Every time I’ve applied, they’re like, “Kelse, you’re going to say something’s too stupid and uh we can’t let you own the team.

” So, yeah, they don’t let me do it. Um, anyways,  I don’t know if anybody’s going to buy the Washington Commanders or not. I do know that they have a really good team. They have a lot of really good players. Uh, and I hate that they have to deal with uh this type of distraction, but all right. Jaguars at Chiefs. Jags beat the Raiders to snap a five-game losing streak in week nine.

 Um, you know, we already played the Jaguars. This is a game I’m looking forward to because I’m not going to lie, I love it when people have personal um relationships and connections playing in a game. Andy Reid, Doug Peterson.  So many ties from being a player and also being a coach.  Um this is going to be an exciting one.

 And uh I don’t know who I’m rooting for. I want I love both all you guys so much. Listen, you don’t know who you’re rooting for.  Well, listen. If you lose, it’s just another reason why we’re better than you. But I think the  another reason.  What?  Don’t start this. Don’t start  this.  All right. You’re right. That’s fair.

 You’ve [snorts] never beat the Chiefs since I’ve been on the Chiefs.  That’s true. That’s true. It’s very true. Anyways, the ghost of Doug Peterson is coming.  The ghost of Doug Peterson.  The ghost of Doug Peterson. He’s gonna come in with that visor energy  and he’s going to put a whooping up on them Chiefs.

 No. No. Listen, I’m not going to get into him putting a whooping on us or us putting a whooping on him. I’m genuinely going to enjoy seeing Douggee P.  love that guy uh just as much as you do. Um got a lot of respect for, you know, how he coaches his players. Uh the attention to detail, how much effort I know how much effort he puts into to putting together a game plan.

 Um, and on top of that, they got a young team that flies around, man. They got a lot of crazy athletes.  Yeah, they’re they’re a really good team. They’ve lost a lot of games that they probably should have won. And I think a lot of that comes down to become because they’re a young team. Yeah.  Uh, but the talent is there.

 You see it all over the field. Their defense, you watch them play. They’re big up front. They fly to the ball. You know, uh,  Caldwell has them playing like unbelievable football on that side of the ball. And uh offensively uh you know Trevor Dolores they got a lot we just talked about uh how dynamic their running game is.

 Um you know they’re going to be they’re a very very tough team and um I know that they just had a fivegame losing streak but um they can beat anybody on any day.  Yeah.  Uh without question  100% I’m with you on that one.  Now Jason before we get out of here it was your birthday. We can’t get you out of here without embarrassing you or making you feel all  What do you got? What do you got? We got our favorite listener, our most beloved listener. We have Donna Kelsey.

 Our mother wanted to give you a big shout out. Mom, we Why don’t we roll the clip, guys?  I cannot fully, you know, express the true feelings of joy, love, laughter, and happiness that I’ve had over these past 35 years. I’m, you know, so proud of the person that you’ve become, not just the athlete, but also the husband, the father, and the charitable giver.

You know, your journey has humbled and inspired me over time where you expect more of yourself than what people have labeled you as. You definitely have written your own narrative. I do have a funny story to tell, though. You were in the O line house at University of Cincinnati and one afternoon you called me and you said, “Mom, I need some money.

” I’m like, “What do you need money for?” And you said, “Well, I was sitting in the bathroom and you know, I just put 50 lbs on because I had to become an offensive lineman.” And apparently I didn’t know my own strength. And I’m like, “What are you talking about?” And so you said, “Well, you he pushed himself off of the sink to try to get himself to stand and in or in order to stabilize himself.

And while attempting to do that, the sink ripped off the wall and a huge flood ensued. And my advice to you was, well, don’t you know you need to keep your arms and your hands inside the vehicle at all times?” But anyway,  just a little thing to share and happy birthday. Love you  with the under.  Oh my gosh.

 Ah, what an epic story. The interesting stories of Jason the really  listen you got to love when mom’s fat shaming you. It’s just the best.   This guy can’t even. But the real question is what were you doing on the floor of your bathroom?  On the floor? No, I was on the toilet. Bob said.  So, what’s the true story? Or do you were you coherent enough to remember the true story or  I was coh I I pushed down on the sink to get up.

 I didn’t think it was I thought it was secure and apparently when you’re 300 lb and you push down on a sink, it might come detached from the wall.  There you go. You heard it. You heard it from Mama Kels’s first, ladies and gentlemen.  All right. That might not be what happened. ALL RIGHT.  THIS GUY WAS blacked out drunk.  I was drunk at a party and it ripped a sink out of a wall.

 All right, everybody want to hear it? Okay. Is that Is it Are you happy now? Do you have your laugh?  Talk about letting the whole field feel every everybody know about your problems in college last week. This is your way of getting me back. Yeah. Mom tell an embarrassing story of me from college.  So, happy birthday, Jason.

 That’s the best. That’s the That’s I heard that’s the best part of being a parent is telling all the embarrassing stories of your kids in front of them,  man. Yeah. They were not happy when I ripped that sink out of the wall, though. That was  I was just a young uh I think that was my freshman year. Um  anybody that anybody out there that has a good drunken Jason Kelsey story from college, please throw it in the comments.

 Oh my gosh, dude.  The legend of Jason Kel.  You know how many stories in Cincinnati? Ah, I cannot wait. I’m going to relish in them.  Absolutely relish in them. But  love you, mom.  Thank you.  Thanks. Thanks for sharing that, Mommy.  Well, that wraps up the 10th episode of New Heights.  10, doesn’t it? Flies by 10 in.

 It was a long episode, but it feel they feel like they fly by every time. I sure hope you guys still enjoy listening to them. And it was a game that didn’t disappoint, you know, very much like last year’s playoff game. So, um, you know, I’m sure you guys will get some of these things corrected, but, um, you know, I still think, you know, that game could have gone either way.

 You guys were right there. And some that’s probably why it hurts so bad because you guys know you had it. You could have won it.  And, um, you know, that’s the reality of tight games and why they sometimes hurt worse than a good old ass kicking.  Whenever you’re whenever you’re playing a really good football team, like a all-around great football team, it’s we talk about those big energy plays.

 You gotta you got to keep making those plays throughout the game because you’re not just gonna get momentum and keep it, right? That other team is fantastic, too. So, they’re going to find ways to build it up. Everything’s magnified, right? So, it’s like making making those big plays, you got to re refocus your energy back to like I need more. I need more.

 Yeah. Or that, you know, Mahomes had that early interception in the end zone. I mean, not a bad throw or anything. I mean, it’s like a 50-50 ball.  Yeah.  But, you know, it’s  there was a 50-50 ball two plays, three plays before that that I dropped and um everything’s just more magnified. Yeah. It was back of the end zone.

 Cornerback made a great play on it. Um Pat threw a back shoulder and I tried to go late hands, couldn’t get my body all the way around.  Um  that would have been a catch.  Once once it’s in the hands though, man, I got to have I got to I got to come down with that thing. But those are the plays that they they mean.

 so much like you have to make that play if you want to win those big time games against great teams. You know what I mean? Like  those opportunities are so limited and everything is magnified. Uh because you know the other team is going to find ways to make plays like that. So you got to make sure that you’re accountable and you’re you’re going up there and making the spectacular catch.

 And it’s just uh you know that’s where I got to I got to be be there for my guys. Man, that one uh that one I’m not going to lie. I was sitting there just in my head about that for a for a few plays, but um yeah, I mean that drive ended up with no points and uh that was after uh I believe I don’t know if it was a turnover or if it was a uh or if it was just a turnover on downs or whether they punted it, but they started off with the ball.

 Defense stops them. We get the ball. Now we need to capitalize. You know what I mean? That situation right there is huge in games like that. being able to, you know, stop stop a team out the gates and put up points first, knowing that you’re gonna get an extra possession going into the second half because you get the ball in the second half.

 Uh it’s just yeah, it’s uh like I said, learning experiences for for the for our team uh in general and um yeah, just got to you got to keep finding ways, man. That was a that was a great team. It’s a completely different feeling from the Colts game. completely different feeling. I mean, shout out to the Colts, they got us, but that team was way more, I would say, not respected, but uh just on paper, you knew it was a better team.

And um  we’re not trashing on the Colts either. I mean, this be honest, these you and  it’s any given Sunday, baby. Like, you got to bring it every time.  You guys in the Bills are uh I think we’re ranked on most of the pot rankings is one and two going into that game. I mean, I know we’re undefeated, but you guys are in the AFC.

 The AFC is the conference that’s loaded this year. And, uh, you know, you guys, uh, you know, this was a a heated matchup for that very reason. So, um,  yeah. And guys can say whatever they want about the two picks or the turnovers and all that, but Pat Mahomes played his tail off. He was out there fighting, competing, running around, making crazy plays, crazy throws.

 I mean, watching the film, I just uh it it it fires me up when I see that dude play football um the way he does, man, because you could tell he’s putting it all out there and uh and and that just makes me want to be more accountable for the guy, man.  Get get one five, help him stay clean back there in the pocket and uh and start making some plays downfield for him.

 Well, [snorts] speaking of Von Miller, we talked about him a little bit before. He had a good game obviously, but uh he issued an apology to you. Did you see this?  What a kind what a kind guy off the field, man. You know what I mean? Animal on the field. Um yeah, for I mean he called me fake Grock.

 Uh head ass,  which was a hell of a response. I actually chuckled when I saw it. I was like,  how can you not laugh at  that? That’s a good one. But uh over the years over the years we’ve we’ve we’ve become uh good friends or mutual friends and uh with uh with a lot of guys throughout the league. Um my guy Char Kendrick West, shout out to Char Kendrick, but uh he was good friends with him.

 I think that’s where I started to like appreciate Von Moore was uh through their relationship. Um and just watching him play football and seeing what he does off the field. Uh definitely a fun dude, man. Uh and invited me on the podcast. So, I’m definitely going to have to jump on the podcast with him and Stefan Digs, man. Uh, but first, you got to join ours.

Van, come on over, baby. Oh, dude.  Um, all the respect in the world for that, dude.  Yeah. The There’s something about a good insult where it’s like you can’t even like get mad at it. It’s just great.   You got to tell the one, man.  Which one? I got a bunch. Which one?  You got to tell the uh the Miami um one from this year,  dude.

 It’s uh it’s  dude  freaking uh Phillips. Phillips from my 90 uh the DN from outside linebacker  Wilkins, right?  No, no, no. It wasn’t Wilkins was talking trash uh just in the practice.  That’s what I’m talking That’s I thought that was where  he wasn’t the one that said the line to me though.

 He was he was talking trash and then I started yapping at him which pretty big party foul by me because I wasn’t able to practice.  You weren’t practicing. Yeah.  And I’m over here talking to trash to Christian Wilkins and then uh all of a sudden out of nowhere Jaylen Phillips says, “Shut up eyebrows. You ain’t even practicing.

” And I was  like, “Dude, this  just called me eyebrows. Like I can’t even come back from that.”  Like that boy got some thick ass eyebrows, man.  Like the like the dad from American Pie. I mean, it’s, you know, there ain’t too many dudes got eyebrows like this.  That thing still connecting.  No, I you I take care of it.

 You know, give it a little tweeze every presentable.  Oh, boy. He won’t go out and buy new clothes, man. But he’ll he’ll tw he he’ll tweak his eyebrows.  I do I do enough to be presentable,  guys. Just manscaping, man. Good for you.  Yeah,  eyebrows. That’s his new nickname, everybody. Eyebrows.

Uh you uh had a little contract uh uh negotiate.  Yes, I did.  Can you put us in behind the scenes with that a little bit? What happened? Why did it happen?  So my uh I’m not sure yet. I think it’s definitely a it’s a it’s a start to a move, right? Like like you’re freeing up cap space to be able to do something, right? You’re not I mean unless always just carry it over.

 I think that uh  All right. Playing a little koi with it. I get it. Something something’s something’s in the air for sure. And if it means OBJ right now,  that’d be good. All right. Well, we can neither confirm nor deny, but we will speculate. Um, and look forward to seeing OBJ in the Chiefs uniform.  All righty. Let’s talk rivalries.

 You guys played the Bills, which has turned into somewhat of a rivalry of uh, you know, uh, success. Both of you guys are really good. And uh you know obviously we played the Cowboys this past week. So let’s talk some more about rivalries.  Yeah.  First of all, is NFL or college a bigger rivalry space?  What where are the rivals biggest?  It’s college.

 Good question.  It’s not a good question. It’s college. What are you talking about, Travis?  You think so?  Yeah.  All right,  dude. In college, it’s much more like uh  I’m thinking about our rivalries and like Miami of Ohio. I didn’t really feel the rivalry.  Oh, dude. I hated Miami of Ohio.  Yeah, but that All right.

 Silver Spoon Private School. Screw them.  I hated Miami.  Well, I was not a fan.  It wasn’t even a real game. I feel like we walked them every single year. Yeah, we were better than them, but I wasn’t a fan. Like, listen, I don’t nothing against anybody that went to Miami, but I was not a fan of uh the snoodiness and the uh think they’re better than us mentality from the Miamiians.

 I didn’t feel that when I played them. I didn’t feel them saying that. I I remember they said they were saying stuff in like uh in the blog  talking about the players. Yeah. Yeah.  Just talking about the overall universities.  Yeah. Yeah.  Either way though, the big time rivalries like the uh the SEC ones where you  Alabama, Auburn.

 Yeah, those you can’t argue with that. I I I hear you on that.  Yeah, it’s no question. They have trophies for it, Travis. There ain’t no NFL trophy for a rivalry. The the rivalries are more about the fans and stuff like that. The players, I feel like, are not as involved in the NFL rivalries. Maybe I’m wrong.

 I think um obviously they’re they’re it’s more than a regular game, but I always felt like the rivalries in college are bigger. Maybe it’s just me. Um  yeah, some people in the uh Dallas Eagles game might might think a little different. I mean, it was the most watched game.  What’s I’m saying on the fans perspective, it’s it’s still very very big, but you know, nobody poisoned a tree at uh Alabama.

 Was it Auburn un? Which one? Which one was it?  I think it was Auburn.  Roll Tide  to kill this 200-y old tree. That ain’t happening in the NFL.  You’re right. It ain’t.  Who has been your biggest rival in your career?  Man, that’s a great question. I um I would probably have to say the Broncos.  Broncos.  Broncos Chiefs have always been huge in in in my head.

 And it it was probably because when I first got to the league, the Broncos were that team.  Good.  Yeah,  they were that team. So, every single week in the in the every single week we played them in the building, it was amped up. It was like, “All right, we focus a little bit more. A little bit more is on the line for this one.

” And AFC West opponent uh playing them twice a year. I just feel like uh that rivalry and and and the Raiders have always been uh without a doubt the two biggest ones that I actually feel the the rivalry and the the history whenever we play them.  Yeah. I mean for us I got to say Dallas um probably because the fan base just makes you feel it so much and we played a lot of meaning meaningful games against them.

 Yeah. Um, you know, and this is our this is our first win in like the last seven games. So, uh, happy to finally break that trend. We had a bad run against Dallas for the last few years. So,  yeah.  Um, you know, I think, uh, outside of them, if I’m going outside the NFC East, probably go Minnesota again. We’ve had meaningful games.

 cuz he had a big NFC championship game and uh the fan bases seem to hate each other and um so yeah, I go Minnesota.  Yeah,  give them some love.  I’m not sure if it’s mutual, but I I absolutely hate playing the Patriots. Um I feel like  you get a you get a lot of fake ass Groon stuff from the Patriots.  Well, I mean that that’s  Uh  I ain’t mad at that.

I’m mad at him calling or calling out my mom in the stands, you know.  You don’t like your mama jokes? Yeah.  No, no, no. Your mama jokes are cool just when you say them to me, not my mom.  You know what I mean?  Like when mom mom mom’s leaving the stadium, she’s getting heckled. You know, that’s just that’s  low blows, man.

 Um, but other than that, and  mom isn’t the only one that had a tough time. A lot of people say they go into New England and and just get the uh just get a bad taste in their mouth about Patriots fans, but obviously the Pats uh had Brady and and Gronk and I mean Bellich, they were awesome for for so long and uh definitely my first couple years in the league and there were a lot of meaningful games that I played against them in the playoffs and um I think that that was definitely one of the games that I was always hyped for

getting trying to get more ready for than usual. Yeah, I mean it’s the greatest dynasty probably of the modern era. Um, you know, it’s impressive what the Patriots are able to do.  So, yeah. What about positional rivalries? Do you ever find yourself uh having um I don’t know, looking at other tight ends stats, things like that and,  you know, accolades and like compete against that.

 I genuinely look at what all the tight ends did in every single game. You know, I just like to see what guys are doing out here. if they had a big game, I’d watch it on on film and and see how he was getting his yards. But yeah, whenever I whenever I played Grank or whenever I played Zack Z, whenever I play a big time tight end across the ball like a Darren Waller, um I’m trying to outperform him 100%.

 I feel like uh I mean, and don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I changed my mentality or anything. I just I want to be known as one of the best that’s ever done done it. And uh what a better way to show it when two of the best that that are in the league uh go at it in the same game. You know,  for me, I feel like the main guy that I always looked at for a while was Travis Frederick with the Cowboys.

 We were both in the same conference  and highly rated centers and  um I don’t Yeah, you always want to be the best, right? And you know, I had a lot of respect for him. Still do. Unfortunately, his career was cut short. Had a really bad illness. I think it was Gillian Bar syndrome. Um, but you know, he came back to the year after that and then retired.

 Um, you know, got a lot of respect for him obviously because we played a lot of the same opponents and he was had such a great career. I think he was a Pro Bowler dang near every season he played in the NFL.  Yeah, he was a stud.  Um, so yeah, kind of always compared myself to him. Uh, and you know, wanted to beat him.

 Uh, even though at center there’s not really statistics, I guess, but Um,  you got the PFF. Great.  Yeah, you always got that. And then, uh, you know, the other guys I think I compared myself to or like always monitored how they were doing at center were the guys that I was drafted with.  And the guys in particular that were drafted above me, you know, Rodney Hudson,  who you played a lot of Yeah.

 you played a lot of ball with in Kansas City. um Stephan Wnooki who was drafted ahead of me and uh  in the Raiders and ironically enough uh a guy that like I wanted to prove I was better than  uh or like I was competing with in my head uh ended up coming and joining the Philadelphia Eagles and we ended up winning a Super Bowl together.

 Uh he ended up being a guy that like made me  became my teammate and made me a better player. Like we ended up helping each other.  Oh yeah. And um  smart dude. a very smart football player, man.  Brilliant guy.  I got to got to see him at the uh the Eagles game I went to. The Whiz was in the house, baby.  Yeah. Yeah.

 The Whiz obviously played in uh in Kansas City and football with us.  Can’t say enough good things. He looks great, man. You talk about losing weight, man. There’s no way you’re doing the Steven Wisnooki, man. You’re not losing weight, dude.  First of all, it’s Stefan Whizki. Get [clears throat]  call him the Whiz, man.

 Whiz, I’m sorry, dude.    Whiz just would follow Kelsey brothers and get Super Bowls. So, uh, way to go for the Whiz.  Shout  out to the Whiz, man. [snorts]  Uh, speaking of, you know, position Robins, what about, uh, is there anybody that was like really really good, uh, early in your career? Maybe somebody that you like wanted to kind of be as good as, you know, like  is Grank for sure.

 Okay. It was I mean he he was the staple  for an allp pro tight end. How you do it inline blocking, how you do it in passing game. Um  how you do  and then on top of that how you do it partying and then on top of that how you win football games, man. He just shows up every single every single week.

 And uh obviously him and Tom were arguably the best duo uh quarterback tight end duo of all time. Uh me and Pat are trying to say something about that, but uh we got a long long ways to go to try and catch up to those guys.  Sure.  But I was very my early on in my career, I was very aware of uh what Grank was doing uh every single Sunday.

 And um not only that, but I was getting compared to him. The tall white dude wearing number 87 loves to have a good time. Um, you know, I think that uh naturally that comparison uh came about the more the Patriots and Chiefs played. Um, but I I personally I absolutely love the way that dude just cut it loose, man.

 You could tell you could tell he he did not make football hard. He went out there and played the game with a with a good feel and just a high energy and a motor and um I genu I I I was always trying to I want to say one up him every single week, but I I was very aware of what uh Grank was doing over there in New England earlier on in my career for sure.

 Yeah. I mean, everybody was he was probably the most unstoppable force and at his best I mean that dude could do everything.  Yeah. I think it was 2011 or 2012 and he had the 17 touchdown season with 1300 yards and nobody had ever seen a tight end just take a ball to the house run through tackles  just dragging defenders from like the 50 yard line all the way into the goal like the goal line.

 It’s a It was It  was unbelievable to watch and I um got obviously so much respect for him. Was able to finally uh enjoy some  party time with the Gronator, man. Uh Grank’s Beats out in Vegas with the Chain Smokers, man. That was that was so fun. I that was on my bucket list trying to cuz cuz obviously uh playing on the field, playing against him was an honor, but uh partying with him was even more of an honor with him and his with him and his family.

 Man, the Grunks are wild as we know.  Of course. And then I then uh during uh my first Super Bowl down in San Fran, um we actually had a round table of me, George KD, Grank, and Tony Gonzalez. And that was one of the coolest conversations I had ever been a part of to be on that stage Super Bowl week, uh talking to top tier to best four of the best to ever do it.

 Uh I’m sorry, three of the best to ever do it. Um  including yourself again. [sighs and gasps] so cockant. How do I do that every time?  Either way, man, it was uh it was such a genuine or like just an organic appreciation for each and every single one of those dudes at that table and um hearing hearing Grank and what he uh saw in not only my game, but George’s game and Tony’s game and vice versa about all those guys, man, it was just uh it was definitely definitely cool to experience that.

 And uh the the time went by too fast, man. That that conversation could have lasted for days, man. But uh they cut it they cut it short because obviously Super Bowl week uh schedules were pretty tight. But um we got to get that round table going again, man. We might just get everybody on the show, man. Everybody come on to new heights, baby. Let’s start talking some more.

 Seriously, it really is fun to talk with other guys, especially at your position. I we talked about Travis Frederick a little bit ago and I still remember we were at the uh Pro Bowl his last year and Trav always had he was always the guy that had like the the backpack cooler with the beer in it and drinking the beers at practice.

 Like  it’s my kind of guy.  He’s a great dude. And I remember looking at him I was like, “Man, is it me or is it getting harder?” And he’s like, “It’s definitely getting harder.” Like   that’s why I got the beers.  Yeah. He’s like, “Man, I don’t know what these defensive coordinators are playing more and more games.

” And it’s uh man, but yeah, it’s always fun to talk with another guy at your position and whether you’re talking about football uh you know, you know, life, you find out you got so much more in common than you really realize. So, anyways, um let’s talk about the biggest rivalry, the biggest rivalry in the human existence. I’m talking about the sibling rivalry.

Ooh,  yeah.  Yeah.  I’m not going to I’m not going to lie. I didn’t really feel like we had a sibling rivalry growing up,  but I also think that might have been because I was the older brother.  Um, and I was just winning everything. So, what let’s hear from your perspective.  You weren’t winning everything.

 All right. I didn’t win.  You were winning the majority of them, but you were not winning everything.  If you won, it was because I felt bad and just wanted to let you up. You feel bad. When have you ever felt bad for somebody in your life?  Okay. It wasn’t because I felt bad. It was because I was like, “Okay, if I don’t let him win every once in a while, he won’t play with me.

” [snorts]  What?  Yep.  I was bringing it every single day. I’ll say this, you know, obviously, you know, two-year difference  for brothers is a big difference. But um I I feel like the rivalry really became apparent to me when you had finally started to hit puberty in high school when I was a senior and you were a sophomore.

 Uh in particular that one day when you finally beat me in basketball uh  finally. You didn’t even play basketball, Jason. Yeah.  Like even when we played basketball, you weren’t playing basketball. That doesn’t matter. I was winning though because I was bigger and more stronger and  faster than you. That’s it.  Yeah, cuz there’s no fouls on the on the playground, man.

 This dude was out here hacking.  I didn’t need to hack. I didn’t need to hack before you hit puberty. I was freaking five inches taller than you. I just blocked every shot. Okay. The only game you won at was horse because you could shoot better than me.  But you realize, ladies and gentlemen, he just said it.

 I He didn’t win at everything.  Uh that’s a good point. But the moment the rivalry really became a rivalry was when you hit puberty. We’re out in the backyard and you finally could actually beat me at something athletic and you were doing this stupid like driving the like outside hook shot and I could not  stop it.

 I could not stop it  there. And I was getting you had just gotten taller than me so I could no longer just block it every time.  Mhm. And uh I was furious.  The hook. That was my patent move down in there in the post, man.  You couldn’t stop it, man.  But it wasn’t even like a like you weren’t even like backing into it and like doing it.

 You were just like driving and then just throwing  running away from you. Yeah.  Okay.  Finding a way, baby.  And I was furious. And so I just started to do what everybody does at pickup basketball when they’re losing. You just start fouling the other guy. And you said,  you said, “That’s a foul, man. That’s bull.

” And I said, “I see there ain’t no refs out here. There’s no refs. And then you got upset. You threw the basketball at me and walked into the house and I’m like, “Oh, hell no.” And in my head,  in my head, I’m really I’m tr I’m upset because I’m having to come to the realization that you’re better at basketball than me.

 And I go inside the house and you’re at the refrigerator and I wheel you around and I punch you in the face.  Way too aggressive for the situation.  That escalated quickly.  Yeah. and  was not expecting a punch in the face, ladies and gentlemen.   I don’t I mean, we we fought, but there weren’t too many times where like it got to that level of like a punch in the face.

 Keep your composure, man. Keep your composure.  I’ve never had good composure,  but yeah, punch you. And then before that, every time we got into a fight and I hit you, you would just start crying.  And Jason, I won the fight. I did not do that.  I did not start crying. Maybe when we were young. Yeah, exactly.

 That’s what I’m talking about. Every time I would hit you when you were a kid, you would just cry. Okay.  Well, because it  hurt. What do you mean?  No, it’s because you’re a kid. I’m not saying  right here in the nose. You already know. It just immediately makes you  Can you just let me tell a story?  You start crying.

 I am not attacking.  It’s not a real cry. It’s my eyes are watering.  Can you be comfortable enough to let me tell a story without feeling like I’m attacking your masculinity? I’m not saying anything.  You calling me a  bro?  You were a child. Okay. But anyways, you would you would be upset and you just run away. This time I hit you.

 You scoop me up before I realized what was going on and slammed me on the kitchen floor. The oven popped off of its hinges.   And then we got up and we actually started having a fist fight. And the only thing that stopped the fight was dad grabbing me, pulling me off of you and you pushing me on top of him.

 And then our my and then DAD GOING, “OH, MY [screaming] RIBS.  OH, MY RIBS.”   And then we both froze. We both froze and thought, “Oh, you just broke that.”  Yeah.  All right. Well, so that’s when I realized that the civil rivalry had gotten to actually be a rivalry. And uh now it’s gone full circle.

 As opposed to me being able to beat you at everything, now you just beat me at everything. So, you know, I guess it’s no longer a rivalry again.  Oh,  yeah. It’s just getting started, baby. It’s just getting started. Moving on. Sideline antics. Tom Brady uh yelling at his O line. We’ve seen that before.

 I mean, sometimes you just got to fire the guys up, man. I’ve seen I’ve seen Pat doing. It’s not necessarily yelling at the O line. I think it’s just trying to get guys, you know, sparked up, man.  Get them going.  Did you see the clip?  No, I didn’t. Yeah, he was yelling at them boys. It wasn’t just  like a It wasn’t LIKE A COME ON, GUYS.

WE GOT TO DO BETTER. It was a  like, bro, listen, he’s Tom Brady. I can’t say nothing.  Tom yells at me, I’m probably not going to say nothing either. But hey, playing line’s hard. And uh  if there’s one thing I do not like, it is quarterbacks uh getting into offensive linemen.

 Like, bro, get the  out of my I am  doing the best I CAN, BROTHER.  THE  UP OUT OF MY FACE. I will put you in that trash can over there if you don’t shut the  up.  You  kidding me? The last thing I want is a  that can’t get hit or it’s called roughing the passer to come up to me and tell me how to  wrestle somebody every play.

 Get the  out of here.  Listen, it’s Tom Brady. I get it. I’m not saying  to Tom Brady either.  got a bunch of Super Bowls.  God. He’s earned the right to yell at his own line. Okay. I don’t really handle that type of interaction well in general.  I am I am not that well. You you’ve actually seen me get into it with a few coaches on the sideline um one too many times, man.

 I uh when when guys start gapping at me ah on on we’re when we’re a team and you’re this is how you’re talking to me. [snorts]  It doesn’t go well. doesn’t go well for me, man. I uh I usually start yapping back and uh I always try and one up it and it’s the worst. I hate it when I get into that mode of like, oh no, you’re going to do that.

 I’m going to oneup you and take it to the next level.  And that’s never that’s nobody wants to see that or be a part of that on the sideline, man.  That’s that’s toxic. Shouldn’t do that.  100%. Um um one of my favorite NFL films moments of all time, Jeff Saturday and the sheriff going at it on the sidelines and   that one was a normal one.

 That was a that was a back and forth.  But it was I love it though, man. I love it. You could just tell those dudes had a great relationship and they were just  Exactly though. That’s why that one was awesome because you could feel the respect even in the argument. Like P’s like, “That’s  Jeff.” AND HE’S LIKE, “WE GOT TO run the ball.

” And it’s like, “Dude, that’s not how you argue when you when you’re mad at somebody. This is like I feel like you guys are just arguing to get the team going.” Like  this is like there’s too much respect here to have a legitimate argument. So,  yeah, there’s just a lot of frustration, so we got to get it out somehow.

 Yeah. So, but I don’t know, you know, I think um Yeah. I mean, listen, arguments are going to happen. Uh, I don’t I already talked  on it. I can’t I don’t know. Whatever.  No, I hear you. The trade deadline is approaching. I think that’s uh that may be, you know, why the Chiefs opened up some cap space.

 Yeah, I think that’s probably fair to say.  Yeah.  Um,  it’s always fun to see who’s uh what moves are going to be made at the last second, last stitch efforts to change your team. Our 2017 year, we made a trade for Jay Jai. um he was  ended up being a big addition. Yeah. Huge part of the team and  and energy guy, swag champ.

 You get those guys to just boost the swagger of the team, bring a whole new energy into the building.  Uh last year we had one with uh Melvin Ingram.  Yeah.  Like a swag champ. A dude  that’s just a great dude. Just a great And on top of that, great football player, smart football player, athletic, uh can just go out there and make plays.

absolutely boosted our defense when we the 2019 year that we won it. Um, Suggs, Terrell Suggs, we we landed Terrell Suggs late in the season. Immediate game changer. Absolutely. You know, a veteran who’s won before,  comes in, uh, just kind of solidifies that that defensive pass rush and just being accountable.

 Um, and another swag champ, man.  Just another swag champ, man. I forgot Terrell Sucks played for you guys.  Yeah, trade deadline. Have you um have you ever felt like I don’t know, man. Maybe I’m uh maybe I might get traded here. Have you ever felt like that when the uh the deadlines approaching or  uh not when the deadlines approach? I’ve never felt like that in the middle of the year.

 I mean, there was uh I had a down year in the middle of my career where there were a lot of uh rumors circulating and you can’t help but notice that and and people were talking talking about the Saints were interested in a trade and uh you know, Ravens were talking about things and you know, who knows what’s real. I do think it’s you can kind of tell when it’s fake when it’s like for a really good player and you’re like I’m not that valuable.

 Like  this is clearly fishing on behalf of the Eagles to try and make this trade happen. Like there’s no chance. They’re trading that guy for me. I just play terrible. So they’re probably not going to do that.  No, I uh Yeah, I don’t know of any really good, you know, trade deadline [clears throat] stuff for me.

 Uh what about you? Do you ever  any rumors?  No. No, I um I’ve never I’ve never felt like it. Um I honestly I can’t even fathom playing for another team, man. That’d be wild. You just said like the Ravens and Saints. I tried to imagine you in a Ravens or Saints jersey.  Thankfully, it didn’t happen because we won the Super Bowl the next season.

 That would have been a rough uh that would have been a much different career for me, but uh luckily the Eagles uh decided to uh uh keep me for at least one more year, and it ended up being the best year of my career. But um  yeah, I feel like uh I you just got to put trust in the front office. You can’t think about any of that stuff.

 Well, yeah. Yeah, you can’t worry about you can’t you you’re going to notice that stuff, but at the end of the day, the only thing you can focus on is what you control, right? And that’s what you do on the field, how you prepare, how you play. All that other stuff ends up sorting itself out.  New heights stamp of the week.

 Who’s taking their game to new heights, baby? We’re going to do a little bit different this week because uh you know there were two uh former Bearcats had big weeks this last week.  Them Bearcats, baby.  I think it’s about time we’ve announced the Bearcats uh coming to new heights. Obviously, they’ve been really good in college football.

 They’re the first non uh power five conference team to enter the college playoffs last year. uh and it was with a team that had a lot of guys for uh that played a lot of ball with each other and now a lot of those guys have entered the NFL and two of them in particular this last week had unbelievable games  great games  um I guess I’ll go with my man Alec Pierce uh up in Indianapolis the receiver  just shows up man he had a great game against us too not a lot of stats but had a bunch of big time catches against us late in the game

 we saw him make plays for years at the University of Cincinnati and then all of a sudden when when their team needs it most. Boom. Big game-winning touchdown. 32  yd bomb uh on a go ball  up top. Pierce, he’s been going up top for years, man. Desmond Desmond Ritter used to just chuck it up to him and he used to go and get it, man.

 Uh  shout out to Alec Pierce taking it to new heights in the NFL. Way to go, my man.  I’m taking my guy Sauce Gardner.  Yeah, of course.  Big Uno over there in the corner. Obviously, first round draft pick. When you watch him play, he is a crazy athlete. Long, quick in terms of like can play physical, can keep can keep his hands on you and move his feet at the same time.

 When you get a corner with those long long arms and just uh can play with anticipation,  man, it’s fun to watch. And uh he obviously he brings the juice, has the chain is that boy that that man is iced out everywhere he goes.  He got the swag for sure, dude. I saw him  I saw him in person when he took a visit to to Philadelphia before the draft and everything and  I was just shocked at his size.

 That’s what I’m saying.  Like dude, this is a cornerback.  This man is as tall as me with his and his arms are just like like eye out like long. You know what I mean? Like this dude is I don’t know what his wingspan is, but it’s big. Like  he’s got the measurables for it, man.  Yeah.

 Like you if you were if you were going to like concoct a quarterback in like a laboratory, it’d be Sauce Garden. And on top of it, if you were to like what’s the dopest ass nickname we can give a quarterback, it would be S guard. Like are you kidding me?  This dude is like  he’s got so much swag, it’s ridiculous. So I am such a huge fan. Yeah.

 Sauce, congrats on taking your game to new heights, man. Keep keep balling, brother. Keep balling, man. All right, let’s look ahead. All right, next week we got uh we got Chiefs at the NerS. You guys looking to bounce back from this past week’s loss to the Bills. Another tough opponent.  Yeah,  you know, Ner are playing really, really good football right now.

 Obviously, you guys have history.  Um, you know, other than winning uh Super Bowl uh 54, uh what is your most fond memory of that day? Oh man. Um, my most fond memory I would say uh,  as funny as it is, we were on the comeback uh, and I got my touchdown and I I remember being so  Jason began in his familiar relaxed tone.

 Travis, we’ve talked a lot already from wins to injuries, from garage beer to 1587, but today the fans are asking about the VIP room. I heard Taylor got that sweet. That’s a completely different story. Tell me, stop hiding. Travis, tall and stiff from smoking, began to tell his story. His voice was deep and warm, as if reminiscing about the details.

All right. All right. I’ll tell you, but first, let me make one thing clear. I wasn’t the one who suggested it. I didn’t even know anything until it was almost finished. Taylor. She just stayed quiet. And when I went into the apartment for the first time after it was renovated, I really stopped. He paused for a moment, his hand moving, then continued.

 The story began last season when Taylor was spending more and more time at Arrowhead. The traditional VIP suite was already luxurious. Leather chairs, a large screen, a refrigerator, but it still had the feel of a standard stadium lounge. It was comfortable  but lacked warmth, lacked the feeling of a second home.

 I remember that day clearly, Travis recounted. After a long game, I went back to the suite and found Taylor sitting in the corner looking out at the pitch. She didn’t say anything. She just said softly, “Honey, this room is beautiful, but I feel like I’m in a hotel, not at home.” I just smiled at her. I thought she must have felt most uncomfortable after the stress, but it turned out Taylor had noticed all along.

 According to Travis, Taylor started observing very closely. She noticed the artificial lighting was too strong, straining her eyes during long game sessions. The seating, however, wasn’t soft enough to sit comfortably for 3 hours. There was no open space, a lack of personal touches, and most importantly, when night fell or it rained, the room became a little cold, lacking the warmth of a space that truly belonged to them.

 She didn’t say anything to me about the plan. Instead, Taylor contacted the stadium management team and the interior designer she trusted. I only found out when Jason called and asked, “Hey, why are there workers going in and out of the VIP room at night? That’s when I got really angry. Travis laughed as he recalled his reaction.

 He detailed the nearly two-month renovation process, which mainly involved presentations on non-match days or at night to avoid disrupting the team schedule. Taylor flew to Kansas City more often than usual, not just to watch the game, but to oversee every little detail. I remember one time after practice, I came home and found Taylor in the middle of collecting samples and drawings.

 She immediately hid pretending to be writing music. I asked her what was going on, and she just laughed and said, “Can  we keep it a secret?” I agreed because I trusted her. He stood by the window. The space before him was completely different. The lighting had been completely changed. Instead of the cold fluorescent lights, there was now a warm yellow lighting system adjustable to the intensity of the battle.

 The walls were repainted in warm neutral tones, a combination of soft red accents of the Chiefs, but not too bright. Commemorative photos hung prominently. Photos of Travis and Taylor first appearing together at Arrowhead. Photos of the team lifting the cup, even a small photo taken from behind of Taylor cheering. The chairs were completely replaced.

No, the quick fix style consisted of deep plush sofas upholstered in soft commercially available fabric with adjustable back rests. Taylor also subtly added small armchairs with the  letters 87 and TS. In the corner, a small area was dedicated to relaxation with a thick soft shag rug and a small bookshelf containing Taylor’s favorite books and a few educational ball related calendars she’d read to better understand the sport.

There was also tea and even a cupboard full of healthy snacks she liked to prepare for him after a game. She said,  “You get thirsty after a game. I want you to have something delicious and warm when you get back to the suite.” Jason chimed in, laughing loudly. “It sounds like Taylor turned the VIP room into a mini apartment for the two kids.

” Travis nodded vigorously. Yes. And not only  that, she installed a better sound system so that at the end we can listen to music to change the noise from the hallway. There’s even a little corner with a fulllength mirror and makeup light because sometimes Taylor needs to touch up quickly before meeting the media.

 But most importantly, it’s the feeling. When I walked in, I felt like I was coming home. It wasn’t the stadium waiting room anymore. It was our space. He went on to describe the reactions of others. Brittney Mahomes’s mouth dropped open when she walked in. Patrick just whistled and said, “Taylor did a great job.
