tomorrow.  I I cannot tell you this song. No, I can’t. There was There’s a song in it that  Is there one that comes to mind?  Yes.  Damn it.  Yeah, there’s one that comes to mind. It’s a cover of a song.  Oh, that Brandy Carile does.  Okay.  And it is it was one of my It’s a song that I’ve been carrying around for like 20 years going, “This is the greatest song.

 Why?” And she said she would she would cover it. And it’s it’s a song that has to cover three scenes in three different generations. And it’s that song that because I kept saying when we were making the film, I kept looking up at the sky going, I didn’t know like about my mom and my grandmother. I didn’t know you was young. I didn’t know what your feelings were.

 I didn’t know you had the same feelings and the wants and the longing that I did, you know, and I it’s I think most kids can say that of their parents. You just know them as old parents.  Yes.  Always. Even though they might have had you as a teenager, you’re just still an old parent. Um, and so I looked at that and I was like, what song supports saying I didn’t know and I’m sorry, you know, and but I’m always going to be here.

 And and there’s a Billy Joel song song called And so it goes and she she covered it and it just like it’s it’s really beautiful.  Gets you right in the fields.  Yeah.  Well, yeah. So now we know  this to all the mamas and the grandmothers going, “We wish we would have known you at our age and when we were younger, so we would have known what you longed for, what dreams didn’t come true, who you were when you were brave and wild, you know.

 So we’re screwed.”  Yeah.  Bring the tissues. Got it. Um, now I know we can’t  spoil anything, but I have to ask, are Midnight Margaritas back?  Yes. But in a different way.  I love that.  Yes. Um, and do you have your own personal version of a midnight margarita? Because we were brainstorming ahead of time and I think that mine would be like an 8:00 lollipop.

 Thank you. [laughter] What? An lollipop. Virgin lollipop. Just probiotic drink. Okay. Like it. I like to call those, you know, the drinks are called mama’s little helper. Um, perfect. And if they happen, they have to happen fairly early in the day. Great. Cuz I like to be in bed by a certain time.  So, a a midday margarita.

 A midday margarita. Yeah. Because I like to be in bed so I can get up at the 5:30 time.  Yes.  Um I That’s What time do you go to sleep? What time would you like to be in bed? Thank you for asking it that way.  Yes.  I would love to be in bed and asleep by 9:30 at the very latest.  Thank you.  I like to say that um whenever we go out to dinner, I like to call it the AP special.

 I like to have a 5:15 reservation. That’s how I like my dinner.  I don’t want to have indigestion. I want to go to bed after I have had time to sit up, digest properly,  watch a little something on the telly. You got to do mindlessness, get the sheets pulled up right to here and the jammies. Yeah. With you  totally with you.

 So, so uh  depends who’s who’s in the bed.  Yes.  Yeah. And who um has decided that they can or cannot fall asleep?  Yes.  Um I mean recently it’s been like a 10:30 situation.  Yeah. When the sun’s up later, they’re up later.  Yeah.  Yeah. So,  they have they have they have  they have a tendency of that.

 Now, as someone who has been given some ridiculous names.  Um,  wait, you were given a name?  I’ve been given names. So, there’s um a Letterman jacket, an Eagles, Philadelphia Eagles Letterman jacket  that was famously worn by Princess Diana.  Really?  Yes. And it was iconic. It’s incredible. And in Philadelphia, it’s like one of our claims to fame.

 It’s embarrassing how much we bring, honestly.  Yeah. Do you have a photo of it?  Well, we we can get a photo of it, but the  they re-released the jacket and it was a limited release. It was maybe 500 of them.  A Letterman jacket like that.  It’s high school.  A winter. So, this is the jacket.  That’s her wearing it.

 And so, they for for charity cuz I wouldn’t have agreed to it any other way. I recreated the photo with the jacket.  So,  look at that. Yep. It Yep. And Nope. Don’t look at it too long. [laughter]  Why? Cuz that’s not your head. Not  cuz it’s embarrassing. And I don’t like having my photo.  You’re so photogenic.

 Uh there’s also some the Duchess of Delo. So don’t don’t look too much into it. [laughter]  Wasn’t looking. But go ahead. Um but this all takes me to the  We’re going somewhere, right? We’re going somewhere.  I know. There’s a destination. Sure.  And it’s not Delaware County. Anyway, it’s  that you are called America’s sweetheart.  There’s a couple of us.

 That exhale.  There’s a there’s a there’s a couple of us. There’s a couple of you that in the summary when searched  Meg Ryan and Shirley Temple are also in there.  Shirley’s in there. Good old  shared with [laughter] Sher.  But think about No one knows who Shirley Temple is.

 Go back and look at this like in your soup.  I mean in those curl like just  so good.  I still feel like she was like a 50-year-old woman that [laughter] just didn’t have a gross spurt. You know what I mean? Like she was an old lady in that tiny little body.  Who’s Betty?  Yeah. Betty white. [laughter] So, it went from Shirley to Betty to your your daughter  to Benny.

 To Benny.  Benny. Betty. There we go.  Uh, now, do you agree with this title of being America’s sweetheart?  I love that you looked at me like, what title?  Well, I was like, what?  It took us We went on a journey.  We went on a journey.  Um,  are you America’s sweetheart?  Do you know what it’s it’s I didn’t give it to myself.

Um, it comes with a lot of responsibility that I don’t think I’m prepared to carry.  Okay.  Um, if it’s if it’s me just trying to do the right thing and be a decent person,  great. I’ll take it. But it does sort of put you on a pedestal that you don’t belong on and then you fall off the pedestal.

 [laughter] And that’s what happens daily. Um, you should probably ask people who know me if I belong there.  Does she belong there? But don’t ask her. She’s a publicist. She’s going to say she’s she’s going to say yes. I love working with her. I’m asking her stuff. You don’t ask.  I’m getting very enthusiastic. Yes.

 Have the people that live under my roof. I think you know it’s nice. It’s really nice. It’s It’s a lot of responsibility.  Okay.  Yeah.  Cuz you can’t have a bad day.  I think you can. I think you can.  Not in public. Well, um I will say I have a feeling you also get this, but people often tell me that I’m relatable.

 Oh, you are very much so.  I thank you for saying that.  I think it’s your potty mouth. It’s like the value of an Fbomb.  I actually I always relate this to I relate being relatable to being a mess. Like I think that it’s real. I think it’s the gentle way of people being like, you’re a [ __ ] disaster human being in your wheel and you’re not hiding it and you’re going, “This is all this is what it is.

 It’s all I’ve got.”  Yeah. That’s all I got.  Yeah. Yeah. And then we have a nice glam squad that fixes it  and that lasts what? 2 hours before it goes up in a bun. How long before your hair goes up?  Um or do you let it stay down  away from my kids? I will let it stay down a little bit longer.  Okay.

 With my kids, it’s not down. not down. My first has a habit of telling me, “I don’t like your hair in a bun.” And I’m like, “Thank you so much. I literally wear it in a bun.”  That’s when they’re younger. Louis hated my hair up, “Mama, your hair down.” I’m like, “What’s wrong with my [laughter] face?” You know, like, “Is it this?” Cover it up. Cover it up.

 Cover the face. They’re They’re honest.  I know. Little too honest. Little too honest.  No, you don’t. We appreciate it. You want it the way. Now, if you had to pass America Sweetheart to anybody else, do you have someone that you think there’s some good ones? There’s there’s a couple good ones. Like it  just good women that are younger than me.

 Like  Emma Stone, give it to her. Lily Collins, give it to Lily. You know, Joey and Maisie in this film. Like they, you know, they’re they have spice now. The great thing about the younger generation is that they can be spicy. Yes. I wasn’t allowed to be spicy. No one wanted me to be spicy.

 Yeah, behind closed doors and different things, [laughter] but no one wanted you to have they wanted you to be sweet. They wanted you to be really safe.  Um, but they I think now people are okay with the balance. There’s a lot of good women out there that could definitely take that. I I pass the baton, too. Happily that with the chaos of four girls and back to school, I need all the help I can get.

Field hockey season is back in full swing and I know it is not only important for girls to play sports, but for them to thrive in  them.  Now, uh, since I am a retired football wife and you won your Oscar for the Blind Side, I have to ask,  are you a football fan?  I love all sports. No, I do. [laughter]  I love I love  You gave her that answer, didn’t you?  No. No. She She knows what I know and what I don’t know. I’m I’m in a basketball family.

 My son’s a basketball player. My daughter’s a basketball player. I was a cheerleader.  Yes.  And when I cheered first and 10, no idea what that meant.  I just, you know, I just was here to support the team. Yes.  My high school boyfriend was a football player. I [snorts] I I love athletes. I love and admire athletes and standup comics because it’s a muscle.

 It’s like it you you put yourself out there and it’s it’s incredible to me. And I I’m the person though when I’m watching a football game, I’m that person. And it’s it doesn’t help anyone around me. Nobody. My son hates it when I’m at the games. I’m like, “No, [snorts] you know,  I I admire the sport.

 I don’t root for just one team. I root for whoever like deserves me to be rooting for them on the day. You know, when everyone’s at the house for the game, I’ll sort of I won’t pick I’ll pick a side that feel feels,  you know, like it it needs me.” Okay. You know, um, if you ever need to pick a team,  yes.

 Would you want me to pick one  one in particular? With one close second.  Okay. Okay.  Okay, I can do that. Maybe the Philadelphia Eagles.  I think that’s a great choice.  Close second.  Yes, the Chiefs.  Okay. Okay, I can do that.  Never.  I can do that.  Never the Dallas Cowboys.  Sorry.

 You know what? I was I grew up I grew up in DC. Yeah.  You did not even mention Dallas Cowboys. That was That was a No. No.  I see a  Yes. Yes.  She’s correct. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I got you. I can I can give you that as long as I get some swag. Like some like a jacket.  I can get you that jacket.  I want to be a duchess as well.  Done. I want to be royalty.

Okay.  It’s lovely.  I like to be in the know when I’m sporting stuff.  Do you Do you frequent Philadelphia by chance?  Been there once.  Love it. Need to be invited. This go invited  just now.  Make me bring the kids.  Love it.  And then really be nice to me so they go, “Wait a minute. Other people go. [laughter]  We can we can make this real jazzy.  Why?  Because I will be standing right back there with you.  I like to be like when we go to concerts, I’m in the back. Like I don’t want to embarrass the kids either when I’m doing pulling out my dance moves cuz they’re epic, but they don’t think so. So I just sort of stay in the back seat.  That’s one place where I’m I’m going to really enjoy letting my dance moves out in public to embarrass my children specifically  in the back.

 Perfect. Let’s do it. I will say just one more nod to football is that um there was a a little bit of a stretch there in Philadelphia where we were having a little difficulty running the ball.  Running the ball.  Running the ball. And a lot of people were enjoying the audio of you on a phone call saying, “Run the damn ball.

 Run the damn ball.” [laughter]  I was like, “Wait, someone got me on the phone.” Yeah. Run the damn ball. Yeah. Did you think one of your personal phone calls had been released to Philadelphia? Just  Philadelphia. Nervous. Like you said, what [laughter]  um did you learn anything about football during  I did when I filmed the movie.

 Okay, perfect.  Don’t ask me about any of I I can take a hint.  Um  I’m trying to trying to remember any of it.  Do you know what first and 10 means now?  First down at the 10 yard mark. Close. Not somewhat. No, not at all. Mhm. That this face. No, you got it. Is that Is that right? Yeah.  So, okay. Let me ask you something.

 If it’s like It doesn’t have to be the [clears throat] 10 yard line.  So, let’s say it’s like it’s like 12 or 13. They still call it first and 10.  Yes.  We’re there. You had it. So,  I saw that. You have had it. Um, well, like all moms, we’ve already been talking about our kids um throughout this conversation, but I’d love to talk some more about motherhood. How old are your kids now?  16 and a half and 13 and a half.  So, that’s it’s exciting.  And and terrifying. And Yes.

 Yes.  Don’t mind me answering for you. How’s it going?  I’m in it. Um, you know, my mother always said to me, “Just wait till you have daughters.” cuz I was a difficult child in that I didn’t do anything but I looked like I was about to do it all. I was really scared of her so I didn’t really do much but I was defiant.

 I was very defiant. I talked back and you know my daughter does the things I thought about. She is an action fear. We love that  she is this child this young soul is one of the bravest people I’ve ever met. not because she’s willing to defy me, but because she really has no fear athletically, um, in her voice, in her telling somebody what she thinks.

 And I go, as hard as it is on me as a parent, if this is who she’s going to go out into the world and be, she’s on the right path. I just have to put bumpers on her. She will run something like a country. She’s she’s incredible. She’s incredible. Scares scares the [ __ ] out of me. But  yeah,  um you know, I’m her mom for a reason, and I’m in it.

 And that’s why I have no life outside of my house. Um and my son is like, he’s like a 78-year-old wise man inside a 16-year-old basketball player’s body. He he knows everything. He sees everything. He knows things that I don’t even know. It’s like I literally find myself in situations and I go, “What would Louie do right now?” because his judgment is so spot-on.

 Like he can look at humanity and he, you know, in a sea of people, he’ll go, “That’s unsafe. That’s” And he knows to like make friends with all, keep your enemies close, but just sort of assess the room. And he’s he’s  you’re not worried about him.  Not Yes. Every single day he leaves the house. Every single day, but not for the reason because of who he is as a human being.

 Um, but he’s  he’s one of the sagest people. Like I look at him and I go, if there’s proof in reincarnation, whatever he was before he got here was an was an evolved beautiful soul. Yeah. And he’s been that way since they put him in my arms. You know, 10 days old. That’s the same kid. Same kid.  Now, I like to talk about some of the more humbling and we’ll call it overly honest things that my kids have said to me.

 Yes. Um, some of the ones more recently, uh, my oldest loves to make comments about how squishy my belly is.  Mhm. We call that the Dunlop  cuz it done lpped over your belt. [laughter]  Notice the Notice the drapey vintage tea that I wear.  Um, yeah, she uh she likes to do that. I told you she I wear a bun, I’d say 90% of the time, and she likes to remind me how awful it looks.

 Yeah. Um,  I put on a dress the other day and she said, “I like that.” Never mind. It looks bad. What was she looking at? Was she focusing on any particular  I’m unsure.  Um, but I don’t know if it’s the way I turned.  Needless to say, I returned it.  Yeah. Who am I?  You know what? You know what? They’re the most honest people with you.

 Your husband knows better to say, “I don’t like that.”  You’re damn ready.  Yes. He’s like, “Babe, you look amazing.”  Yes, he does.  Yeah. Yeah.  And that’s not always truthful.  I need the honesty.  I I I’m with you. But you don’t need it all the You don’t need it from your husband.  No.  Not there.

 No. And also, sometimes I would like  a hint of a filter. Just a hint, you know,  from the kids.  You’re not going to get that. Let me tell you, it gets worse.  Great.  Yeah.  That’s perfect.  Yeah.  Mhm. Uh yeah. Do you have anything that stands out that your kids have said to you where you were like  The podcast was filmed in a cozy, intimate setting, true to Kylie’s signature style.

Despite his packed schedule at the time being almost impossible to arrange, he didn’t give any notice. He just showed up at the door with a smile and open arms.

 At that moment, I looked at him and thought, “This is the true nature of Travis, someone who always puts family first, even when the whole world is demanding his attention.” These words are said to have deeply touched Taylor Swift. According to several close sources, the singer listened to the podcast in a private moment and couldn’t control her emotions.
