The ultimate brotherhood test! Taylor & Kylie get their answer on who holds the real bravery in the Kelce family
We’re just out there sort of going around paddling, checking out what was underneath us. And I turn around and this man is the fastest I’ve ever seen this man. I was like, “Oh, look at him go. He’s not even.” And all I all I said to him was, “Are you done?” And he was like, “Mhm.” That’s what you gave her.
Well, she was so she was so far away from me. I It was hard to hear what she said cuz she was so far away from the shark. So, it was hard to tell what she said. As he was paddling past me, Travis, he had to paddle past me to get into the into the shore. He had to paddle past me and he didn’t say anything. But I was I was out there.
I was with the shark. It was It was me and that one guy and everybody else was. Have you Have you gone back in the ocean with Jason since? Not with Jason. Who you Who’d you go in the ocean with? Myself. Well, we didn’t just go straight into the swamp with like nobody. Are you Are you actually holding Yeah, 100%.
You’re holding a crocodile there. Yeah, that’s not okay. Yeah, it’s real. That’s incredible. First of all, brave. That thing was heavy. Was it? It’s heavy. And what you don’t realize is that I’m standing on lily pad roots. I was just about to ask that question. Did they check under your feet? 15 ft deep. And I’m just standing on the roots of the lily pads right there.
See, this is why I wanted to get into this cuz on one hand, you’re looking at this and you’re like, “This is ridiculous. But this was like a legitimate feat that you accomplished here. I was proud of myself. Did you get the bag dirty? No. That Oh my gosh. Gross would have law would have killed me.
Okay, more questions. I’m like definitely afraid of sharks. I left Kylie out to dry one time in Hawaii. She was not happy about it. There’s nothing that makes me afraid more than sharks. KYLIE, COME ON. FOLLOW ME. We were paddle boarding one time off the coast of Maui. I watch Shark Week all the freaking time and I’m like, “This is like the number one way to get eaten by a shark.
” That is not true. Yes, it is. It is definitely true. And I’m on this uh surfboard. I keep falling off because I’m not athletic enough for a paddle board, apparently. I’m about 50 yards away from the beach. All of a sudden, guy in front of me gets just like goes like this and he starts screaming shark.
I hight tailed in reverse. I don’t ask questions. I’m not asking questions. This mother just yelled shark. I’m getting there. I am headed inland. Kylie’s like, “Man, where you going, Jay?” I didn’t even say a word. I just kept going straight. I am not sticking around. You couldn’t echo the call. There’s a shark.
She knew game time. Didn’t fall in the water at all. I got to shore quick as hell. We also need the shark story from Kylie. Oh, yeah. Jason is uh the best storyteller. But um how did it feel that Jason left you out in the middle of the uh of the infested waters and on the mountain twice? Two times. Yeah. Well, I mean in defense, she was nowhere near the shark, so I didn’t really leave her in a compromised.
What is nowhere near the shark mean? She was in the same water he was. You were significantly more. You could see Kylie and you could see the shark. Yes. It was hard to see Kylie though. That’s how far away she was. It was No, it wasn’t. It was hard to see. It was hard to see her. Let me tell you why it was hard to see me.
Because this man was in and out of the water a million times cuz he couldn’t stay up on his board. If the shark would have been anywhere near you, I would have I would have jumped in and attacked. It is the fastest I’ve ever seen a big man move was when he would fall in the water and then have to get back up on his board because quick feet quick.
He was not staying in that water. Okay. It’s lava. It’s lava. This is before the shark. He could not stay in the water. Every time he fell in, it was full panic to get his ass back up on that board. He could not stay up. And to his defense, he was paddling out. And it was our understanding that if you were paddling out into the ocean that it was harder to stay up and if you were paddling in with the waves, it was much easier.
Wait. Yeah. this man. But like we’re just out there sort of going around paddling, checking out what was underneath us. And I turned around and this man is the fastest I’ve ever seen this man. I was like, “Oh, look at him go. He’s not even he’s” And all I All I said to him was, “Are you done?” And he was like, “Mhm.
” Didn’t you gave her? Well, she was so she was so far away from me. I It was hard to hear what she said cuz she was so far away from the shark. So, it was hard to tell what she was saying.
Myself. All right.
Well, what was worse then? Being left on a mountain or being left in the ocean. I feel like him not mentioning that there was a shark on his way past me is a little bit worse because it is an imminent threat to my life. You you I would have mentioned it threat. This was I feel like nowhere near you. It wasn’t a threat to you.
It was a threat to you, Kylie. It was only a threat to Jason. Yeah. Well, that’s because I was next to shark. I feel like this is Have you ever heard the the how you get away from a bear? You just have to be faster than the slowest person. Oh, okay. Yeah, I’ve heard of that one, too. I was his slowest person.
No, he was like every man for himself. At the very least, I know once I didn’t want to ruin your experience. You were so far away from the shark and you having so much fun. I didn’t want to ruin the entire experience for you. Yeah, you got to keep positive vibes out in Hawaii. Yeah, I was fine with it.
Loose. I knew they were out there. As long as I don’t see them, I’m good. Nice. Yeah. All right. Honestly, if I did see them, I’d be a little fascinated, but I don’t want to see them. I’ve seen one. I just want to see sea turtles. I’ve seen one out there. You saw one? One.
What? What? What kind of shark was it? It was like a uh I want to say it was like a bull shark. It was like a It’s not a good one to see. It might have been sharks are one of the most aggressive ones. The most. No, it was like a It was probably like a fivefooter. It’s probably like a five-footer. Yep. Looked like a great white, but it was about a fivefooter.
It looked like you what? You know what I mean? Like it it didn’t look like a hammerhead shark. You know what I mean? Like it looked like it looked like a foot shark breeds. Yeah. I don’t know. It’s a five-footer. Yeah. It’s a 5-footer. Yeah. Well, the guy that was uh snorkeling and showing us all the reefs and everything said he knew a shark lived down here in this cave.
So, he just went down there and just like messed mess with it a little bit to get it to like come out of the cave. Oh, no. The guy came out of the cave and the shark went right back in. Again, you just got to be faster than the slowest person. Kylie, just remember that. That’s it. That’s what he said. Kylie’s slower than me.
I’m going to just scoot on past her and then I’m safe. You did a GREAT JOB. LET’S GO. These all these photos are from your GQ photo shoot, which was a blast. Shout out to everybody at GQ. Amazing. So, I I have questions. Thank you for acknowledging this. That’s a pretty big hat. What’s going on? Every outfit I put on.
Yes. I would laughed. So, you did, too? Yes. Great. This is hilarious. And they’re going to put me in the swamp. Yes. They’re actually coming for these style choices right now. If you can hear the sirens. Um, you should have seen the uh the indigenous Flidians that were staring at me with this hat on as they were trying to hand me.
No, the Oh, the people on set. Oh, yeah. Okay. Oh, yeah. Well, we didn’t just go straight into the swamp with like nobody. Are you Are you actually holding Yeah, 100%. You’re holding a crocodile there. Yeah, that’s not Okay, that’s real. That’s incredible. First of all, brave. That thing was heavy.
Was it? It’s heavy. And what you don’t realize is that I’m standing on lily pad roots. I was just about to ask that question. Did they check under your feet? 15 feet deep. And I’m just standing on the roots of the lily pads right there. See, this is why I wanted to get into this because on one hand, you’re looking at this and you’re like, “This is ridiculous.
” But this was like a legitimate feat that you accomplished here. I was proud of myself. Did you get the bag dirty? No. That Oh my gosh. Sure. Would have law would have killed me. Okay, more questions. Okay. Um, what type of construction were you doing in the ocean? I was doing turtle construction.
who’s doing water. We’re moving. Yep. Getting uh you know. And is the horse under the water or um was it a seahorse? What’s happening with the cowboy hat? The the cowboy hat and the the construction vest. Yes. They were at the same There was like one look. This is one look. Yeah.
And then we were like, maybe do one without the other cuz they were clashing with the water. Oh, you had them on at the same time at one point. Yes. And then Yeah. Okay. So that actually this is a great This was actually great decision-m cuz that would have been too much, right? It was It was way too much. It was too much. And then you split it.
And this is clearly not too much. This is exactly what it’s supposed to be. No, that’s that’s enjoying the water after after a hard day’s work. Sure. On site. Refreshing dip. Great. What else do we have? Yep. How sweaty. Okay, so this shoot was in South Florida. It was literally in the Everglades.
Yes. So fuzzy. Here we go again with a fuzzy hat. Smaller fuzzy hat in June. In June. How hot were you in that peacacoat? I was sweating my tail off. Were you? It was. That was the most uncomfortable part is that I’m sitting here trying to make a serious face for the shot. Yes. Knowing how bogus I lookal like knowing how bogus I look and feel.
Even though I thought that was pretty cool. That shot. That’s actually You get the old You get the old car. Um, but I I was literally sweating bullets the entire time. Like down your face. Yes. You’re trying to pretend like you’re not like it just wasn’t happening. And that’s why you And it got to the point where you’re like like trying to like stinging a little.
Yeah. And then I had like Jason would say that that’s what your eyebrows are for. No, I’m more of a These are like a visor for me in the sun. He says the same thing. Yeah. I can I can block the sun out real fast with these. That’s the best. Oh god. Thank you, Ed Kelsey. All right, that’s it for my commentary.
No further questions. But I think it’s clear that that there’s a reason you were featured in GQ in that shoot because clearly you’re a professional fighting through the elements like that. Clear I was willing to do fun silly stuff like that. Um, and have fun with it. You know, L Ro the one that was designing me and like put me in all that fun stuff and was a part of like making sure that it looked right and looked cool and came out great like that.
Is that I just like trusted you and everybody with it. I was just like, “Yeah, whatever you guys got.” You didn’t even pull out the the cool one I did in in the ocean. The other ocean one. Do we know that one? The one with that pack on my feet. Oh, I will say there was there was a moment in going over the rundown where Emma was like, “We’re going to bring up the GQ shoot.
” And I was like, “Let’s have some fun. Be selective. Yeah. That Well, so this was actually I had How many times did you eat Believe it or not, I didn’t. That is I’m trying to manage my reaction. That is such a Kelsey brother nonsense. Re that is I’m It was get up and then I kind of like slowly fell down the guy.
So I if you don’t know how those works, you’re you’re Are you controlling it? You’re attached to a guy on a jet ski. Okay. And he’s through the jet skis. Like that’s what’s giving you engine. That’s what’s giving you the the water going through. So that guy was perfect. Every time it looked like I was about to just like tail off, he would he would Yeah.
ease off the gas a little bit and then that would kind of like ease me back down and I could get my bearings. Yeah. So, but yeah. No, that was that was a blast. and my quads were burning. Uh, next time I go on the other podcast, you have every right to find the most ridiculous photos of me in Brandon can find.
So, I’m going to give you I’m going to give you No, we got to get Kai in there. We got to get her down. Me and my Chuck Taylor. Uh, that’s the best bet they got. T’s. Uh, and that’s a wrap on our Uncle Trav Super Bowl special. Thank you, Trav. Not gonna lie. This was so much fun. Was it? Yes. Okay, good.
I will say this is one of the one of the very few interviews that I’ve done that I haven’t been super sweaty and nervous that I was going to it up because I just figured like it up for you. No, I was just like we’re just be here, shoot the around with this rundown and make Emma sweat. You also have like important people coming on here that are actually doing like cool in life.
So it’s like and you guys don’t I haven’t had a job in a month. I don’t This is all he’s got going on guys. It’s like the first time I have nothing. No, I’m kidding. Well, thank you so much for taking the time. I You just let me know when I get another chance to come on here. I’m going to go find some. I’ll say that more.
Queen know I can hear you. You heard. Um, thank you so so much. And um, go Chiefs. OH, HOW ABOUT THAT? HEARD it here first. Yes. They’ve actually heard it multiple times, but I’m saying it in front of you so that you make sure you hear it. Thank you. You know, I always say and out of respect, go birds. Thank you.
See, and that’s on being family. Okay. I’ll be back next Thursday with a brand new episode. And it’s another banger real ones. You’re getting the first ever NGL Valentine’s Day episode with some very special guests. You know the guests, actually, Trav, who? That one I’m going to be nervous about cuz they’re about to share some Well, this is all edited.
Let’s not let them get in the driver’s seat on that one. So, I love that story cuz is it still clear whether or not you’re such a put it away. I may or may not have been in a pageant. Oh my god. Did you Irish dance? What was your What was your talent? Haha.
There I don’t think I had to have a talent. Did you have a save the world like and world peace? World peace. Jason Kelsey is keeping it real. On an episode of his New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, the former Philadelphia Eagles center opened up about the time he left Kylie Kelsey in the ocean after seeing a shark.
During a conversation about the 1990 classic Pretty Woman, Jason and his brother Travis Kelsey discussed the ending of the movie when Richard Gear’s character Edward Lewis rescues Vivian Ward, Julia Roberts. like she had always dreamed of as a child. She plays out like she’s always had the dream of the night in shining armor climbing the tower, Jason said.
Then all of a sudden at the end of it, he’s climbing the stairs of the section 8 housing to save her from the circumstances that she’s been dealt because he loves her. He braves up. The sports broadcaster then recounted a time he chose to opt out of bravery himself. Dude, I left Kylie in the ocean because of the sharks.
I don’t know if I’m as good as Edward is, apparently. I’ll tell you what, though. If I actually thought she was in danger, I wouldn’t make that choice. I was just terrified. I didn’t think I was in danger. That’s the difference. Jason said, “I just started getting worried about the sharks. I didn’t think she was actually in danger.
Otherwise, if Kylie fell into sharkinfested water, I would jump in.” the retired NFL star added. I fing guarantee you she was away from the shark. The shark was all the way over here. It was in a completely different vicinity of this water. I’m just letting you know, Jason went on. Shark was already close enough to you to where you got out of it, said Travis with a laugh.
To which his brother replied, she was way behind me. I promise you, only Kylie has to believe you. Just remember that only she has to believe you. Travis teased. Kylie also appeared on the podcast to tell her side of the shark story. After Jason insisted that it was hard to see his wife, Kylie dead panned. No, it wasn’t.
She then explained that she turned around and suddenly her husband was paddling fast. All I said to him was, “Oh, are you done?” And he said, “Mm.” Didn’t say anything, Kylie recalled. to which Jason said, “Well, she was so far away from me, it was hard to hear what she said.” “She was so far away from the shark,” he continued.
Kylie then said, “This is as he was paddling past me,” adding, “He had to paddle past me, and he didn’t say anything.” However, the Kelsey brand of fearlessness manifests quite differently in the younger brother. He is fearless. Even alligators are no match for Travis. The fashion statement is inspired by none other than Travis Kelce, who posed with the reptile, among other animals, for a wild fashionforward photo shoot for his GQ cover story.
Shot in Florida’s Everglades, the Kansas City Chiefs star, who opened up about his upcoming NFL season, retirement plans, and his girlfriend Taylor Swift in the profile, posed in a number of looks styled by L Roach and photographed by Ryan McInley. The digital story was topped with a photo of Kelsey cradling an alligator in yellow Carheart gloves while standing in the middle of a swamp wearing nothing but waiters by lacrosse footwear and a massive fur hat by Ro.
He accessorized with a hub watch. In another shot, Kelsey sat in a red boat and looked surprised at what he spotted in the Florida waters. The athlete put his chest on full display wearing a fur coat by Dolce and Gabbana paired with coordinating brown pants by Lu Yu Dan. He completed the look with LLBAN boots, a hat by Gardenaire, and Gucci sunglasses while an Alex Moss necklace stripped down his neck.
In a third photo, the three-time Super Bowl champion took the shoot to dry land. He rocked an edgier getup, too. Standing casually on tree roots in a forest surrounded by luscious greenery. Showing off his fit physique, Kelsey posed in an unbuttoned leather Balenciaga jacket with western flare, complete with fringe that hung off the shoulders and sleeves of the black garment.
He also wore white pants by Willie Chavaria and a black Artemis quibble belt. In a fourth shot, Kelsey returned to the swamp, but this time he swapped the gator in hand for Roach’s massive light brown Hermes Birkin bag instead. He also sported the waiters by lacrosse footwear and the ro hat for the photo.
The NFL started pick up another animal for the shoot, a snake. In a fifth shot, Kelsey stood amid the famed wetlands with the oversized reptile draped over his arms. Despite the intense pose, he kept his look simple, posing in a classic white tank top by Dolce and Gabbana and jeans by Adam Small. The shoot took 12 hours in total, which included trudging through swamps and riding airboats, as pictured throughout the cover story.
Elsewhere during the shoot, Kelsey made his way to a larger body of water and fully submerged himself for the photos. In one of the pictures, he popped his head out of the water wearing nothing but a cowboy hat. In another water-based shot, he sported a neon yellow vest by Catwork and his own chain.
The pro football player even discussed what life could look like for himself in retirement and tossed around a few ventures he has in mind. He also shared what he wants to stay away from, too. Additionally, Kelsey opened up about his relationship with his mom, Donna Kelsey, who recently spoke with us exclusively about her son’s hunkered down approach to the upcoming season.
She highlighted his new physique, noting that he’s slimmed down to better his
